Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation And The Redskins Alumni Association To Host The Fourth Annual Redskins Charity Golf Classic Presented By Pepsi

EASY TWEET: Current & former @Redskins players to help host the #Redskins Charity Golf Classic presented by @Pepsi benefiting @RedskinsCR

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation (WRCF) and the Redskins Alumni Association will host the fourth annual Redskins Charity Golf Classic on Monday, May 21 at Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va. Shotgun start will take place at 9:30 a.m.

Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien (XXVI) is expected to attend, in addition to more than 15 Redskins Alumni including Jeff Bostic, Larry Brown, London Fletcher, Mark Moseley and Santana Moss. Current Redskins are also expected to participate in the tournament including Ryan Kerrigan, Brandon Scherff, Alex Smith, Nick Sundberg and more.

Schedules permitting, the entire Washington Redskins team, players and coaches, are expected to attend along with Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden and President Bruce Allen.

Support from the tournament will be used to launch more than 25 new Loads of Love (LOL) Laundry Center sites. The LOL program, launched during the 2017 – 2018 school year, installs washers and dryers in schools serving students who lack access to clean clothes. Studies have shown that offering laundry services in schools can help boost student attendance rates, class participation and grades. The Foundation's LOL program currently operates in three elementary schools in Prince George's County, as well as in two youth shelters in Washington, D.C.

On May 21, the inaugural LOL online grant application will be open to schools and non-profit organizations across the Redskins market area, expanding LOL to a minimum of 25 new sites in the 2018 – 2019 school year. More information about the program can be found at www.redskins.com/community/loads-of-love. Long Snapper Nick Sundberg approached the Foundation with the idea for the program and continues to provide support for the initiative. Sundberg will be on site to help make the special announcement before golfers hit the course on Monday morning.

"This cause [the LOL program] inspires me to help kids," Sundberg said. "Everybody deserves a fair shot, but not everybody has it. So if we can help even one more kid graduate that wouldn't have, or help one more kid want to go to school that generally wouldn't, then it is totally worth it."

The tournament is a net scramble format with an NFL Alumni, Current Redskins player, or Redskins coach leading each foursome. The event will feature hole prizes and contests including an all-expenses-paid trip to the Super Bowl of Golf for the winning team. Past sites for the Super Bowl of Golf have included Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs, Torrey Pines Golf Course, Doral Resort & Country Club, Amelia Island Plantation Course and Maui Prince Resort.

This year's event showcases an online silent auction presented by The GCO Consulting Group. The auction features more than 50 unique items including autographed Redskins memorabilia, trips and experiences. The silent auction is powered by Handbid, using mobile and online technology that allows anyone to bid on these exclusive items from anywhere using the following link: http://hand.bid/skinsgolf18

Media availability will be between 9:15 –9:30 a.m following the special announcement and welcome remarks and 2:30–3:00 p.m. prior to the beginning of the dinner reception.
