Washington Redskins And Inova Sports Medicine Name High School Coach Of The Week

EASY TWEET: Congrats to Coach Yew of@FalconsCHS *for being named the #Redskins HS Coach of the Week presented by @InovaHealth*

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation announced today that Michael Yew, head football coach at Central Woodstock High School (Shenandoah County Public Schools) has been named the Redskins High School Coach of the Week, presented by Inova Sports Medicine, for the week of November 6.

Entering his fifteenth season at Central Woodstock High School, Yew is no stranger to success. He has been named Bull Run District Coach of the Year twice, and Area Coach of the Year on three separate occasions. However, his on-field success is a direct result of his ability to motivate and inspire his team. "Coach Yew is not a yeller," said Athletic Director Kenny Rinker. "He motivates his student-athletes by getting them to see the short and long term benefits of working hard, especially in the weight room."

Currently, the Central Woodstock High School Falcons are 10-0. This is the first time the program has achieved an undefeated record in school history.

Off the field, Yew is continuously asked to speak for civic organizations, church groups and appears on the WHSV-TV 3 show 'Endzone' at least once a year. This television program features a coach from the local area every Friday night.

Safety is a fundamental part of how Yew runs his program and plans his practices. Yew and his staff emphasize safety by ensuring their student-athletes have state-of-the-art equipment, cutting down excessive and unnecessary contact during practices.

During Yew's coaching tenure, he has made a lasting impact on all of his student-athletes. Rinker ended by saying, "Coach Yew and his staff have been together for 15 seasons and he is a true product of Central High School. He has an innate ability to get his kids involved with all aspects of the sport. He always encourages his athletes to be active outside of football and to participate in other sports. However, most importantly, he is an honest and straightforward individual with his players."
