LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation announced today that St. John's College High School (Washington Catholic Athletic Conference) head football coach, Joe Casamento, has been named the Redskins High School Coach of the Week presented by Inova Sports Medicine for the week of Oct. 23.

Following 17 seasons as head coach at Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, NY, Casamento arrived to St. John's in 2015 as an associate head football coach. In 2016, Casamento was promoted to head coach. Since his arrival, Casamento has become the architect of success for the program. In their last matchup, the Cadets improved to 5-2, defeating DeMatha by a score of 38-22.

Athletic Director Brian Griffin credits the program's success to Casamento's passion for teaching beyond the game. "He leads by example with his hard work and leadership skills, beyond just the fundamentals of football," said Griffin. "He encompasses the vision and values that help our student-athletes become better sons, better brothers and preparing them to be better husbands and fathers."

Off the field, Casamento is the head of the Entrepreneurial Center for Innovation and Leadership at St. John's, which gives students the opportunity to use the knowledge and experience from their coursework to build solutions to real-world challenges. In addition, Casamento was previously the Executive Director of LEADUSA, a non-profit organization that offers a wide variety of life skills and leadership values, aiding young men and women with the tools to become better people.

Casamento and his staff emphasize safety on the field by investing in the best performance training, equipment and athletic training.

Griffin ended by saying, "Coach Casamento is all about the kids and making sure that they get every opportunity to be great in sports and in life."
