Redskins Fall To Falcons In Week 9 Matchup

The Washington Redskins are taking on the Atlanta Falcons at FedExField looking for their fourth consecutive victory. Check out a running list of the highlights from the game.

With the Falcons already ahead 7-0 and threatening to score again, the Redskins defense came up with a huge turnover to shift the momentum. Returning from injury, cornerback Quinton Dunbar intercepted Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan to set the Washington offense up with the football.

Trailing 14-0, quarterback Alex Smith helped jumpstart the Redskins offense, slipping out of a potential sack and breaking into the open field for a 22-yard gain and a first down.

Later in the drive, following a completion to wide receiver Maurice Harris to put the Redskins just a few yards shy of the end zone, Smith connected with receiver Josh Doctson for the Redskins' first score of the game. The touchdown cut the Falcons lead to 14-7 and capped an 11 play, 80-yard drive for the offense.

A score from the Falcons in the final minute of the second quarter sent the Redskins into the half trailing 21-7.

The Falcons scored a touchdown on the opening possession of the second half to take a 28-7 lead.

On second-and-6, Maurice Harris pulled in a 33-yard catch, using one hand, to put the Redskins in Falcons territory.

After converting on fourth down, the Redskins finished off the drive with a three-yard rushing touchdown by Kapri Bibbs, cutting the lead to 28-14.

With 7:13 left in the fourth quarter the Falcons kicked a 27-yard field goal to take a 31-14 lead. With 3:55 left in the game Julio Jones took a screen pass 35 yards for his first touchdown of the season, pushing the Falcons' lead to 38-14.

Atlanta won with a final score of 38-14.
