Congratulations John Scott McDermott, Mykeshia Mathis, Kayode Lawal, and Jesse Hernandez!
On Thursday, November 21st, the Washington Redskins hosted their second re-enlistment ceremony with the United States Army of the 2019 Season at FedExField. The names listed above are the individuals that chose to commit four to six more years of service with our organization on Thursday! We'd like to send special thanks to the Military District of Washington for allowing four more service members and their families to make their commitment to our nation's Armed Forces at the home of the Washington Redskins.
On Thursday morning around 10:00 AM soldiers, military families, friends in uniform, and re-enlistment officiating Officers gathered in the Administrative Office of FedExField in preparation to commit another period of their lives serving our nation. The ceremony is apart of a three-part re-enlistment series with the United States Army in the 2019 season. The first occurred November 3rd, and the final re-enlistment will occur on the main concourse of FedExField before the Eagles game on December 15th. All soldiers and their spouses will be honored and featured on the field during the Eagles game on December 15th.
The re-enlisting soldiers, families, and friends were then brought to the home team sideline for their ceremony. A special moment for everyone involved, Officiating Officers, Second Lieutenant William Andana and Chief Warrant Officer Franz Lopez each briefly spoke about the service member they were re-enlisting and shared sentiments about what it meant to retain such a strong, reliable staff. The ceremony was brief, but their words were powerful, meaningful, and moving.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, family photos were taken (some shown below), and the group was taken on a tour of FedExField to further make Thursday, November 21st a milestone date that is always remembered. Thank you to the soldiers that chose FedExField to cross that milestone.
