Redskins Win Big Against Cardinals In Season Opener

The Washington Redskins are taking on the Arizona Cardinals from State Farm Stadium in the team's season opener. Check out a running list of the highlights from the game.

In the first quarter of Sunday's contest against the Arizona Cardinals, running back Adrian Peterson takes a handoff, makes a defender miss and sheds a tackle on his way to a 13-yard gain.

In the second quarter, quarterback Alex Smith finds running back Chris Thompson for a 13-yard touchdown to give the Redskins a 7-0 lead over the Cardinals.

Alex Smith rolls out of the pocket and connects with tight end Jordan Reed for 22 yards in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Peterson crosses the goal-line for his 100th career touchdown, putting the Redskins up 14-0 in the second quarter.

Smith and Thompson continue to link up, this time for 23 yards on a screen pass.

In the final minute of the second quarter, Reed grabs a pass from Smith and extends past the goal line for a 4-yard score increasing the Redskins' lead to 21-0 heading into halftime.

Cornerback Quinton Dunbar snags the first turnover of the season for the Redskins, intercepting Cardinals' quarterback Sam Bradford in the third quarter.

Defensive end Matt Ioannidis strip sacks Bradford late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's contest. The Redskins recover the fumble, all but sealing the 24-6 victory over the Cardinals.
