At 6-foot-6, 234 pounds, Indiana quarterback Nate Sudfeld -- selected in Round 6 by the Redskins -- brings the size needed to play quarterback in the NFL.

The Washington Redskins have landed their third young quarterback – a position they were looking to fill in the 2016 NFL Draft – with the selection of Indiana quarterback Nate Sudfeld with the No. 187 pick.

Sudfeld, 6-foot-6, 234 pounds, appeared in 37 games for the Hoosiers over the course of four seasons, collecting 7,879 yards and 66 touchdowns to just 20 interceptions.

During his senior season in 2015, Sudfeld earned third-team All-Big Ten honors, setting career highs in passing yards (3,573) and touchdown passes (27) while throwing just seven interceptions on 412 passing attempts.

He posted one 400-yard game during the season while also managing to throw for at least 350 yards six times.

As a junior in 2014, Sudfeld appeared in just six games before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury.

Still, the Modesto, Calif., native managed to pass for 1,151 yards while throwing six touchdown passes.

Sudfeld was just the third true freshman quarterback to play in Indiana history during the 2012 season, as he threw for 632 yards and seven touchdowns to just one interception in seven games. According to his NFL.com draft profile, Sudfeld has NFL-ready size that is backed up by a wealth of college experience.

"Comfortable operating in timing based systems and shows ability to throw with desired anticipation. Ball usually comes out on time. Able to expedite throws when pressure finds him early. Feels pressure and gets rid of the ball over taking the sack. Makes catchable, accurate throws from the pocket. Shows off NFL arm when he steps and drives to target. Does not fear the field side throws and has arm and accuracy to make them. Puts plenty of air under touch throws allowing receivers a chance to make a play. Showed off consistent touch on deep corners. Competitive as a runner and lays out for first downs over sliding early," his draft profile states.

Sudfeld joins Kirk Cousins, who will be playing under the franchise tag in 2016, and Colt McCoy, re-signed this offseason, as the third quarterback on the Redskins' roster.
