Ava Demetria "Dee Dee" Neal is a native of Greensboro, NC. She is the youngest of three children born to Yvonne and James Neal, Sr. Dee Dee was educated in the Greensboro public school system. Upon receiving her high school diploma, Dee Dee enlisted in the United States Army where she served as a culinary specialist. While serving, Dee Dee was injured and medically discharged from the Army. Dee Dee is a 100% disabled veteran, but she has never let that slow her down.
After returning home, Dee Dee began working at North Carolina A&T State University as a culinary specialist. She worked at the university for fourteen years. Upon her retirement, Dee Dee started volunteering at her home church, St. James Presbyterian Church. Over the past 8 years Dee Dee has served as a Trustee, Culinary specialist for the Milk and Honey Cafe on Sunday mornings, Faith Point Fellowship, Wednesday Night Bible Study, and Message and a Meal. Our church has an outreach ministry that provides a message on health care topics, sets up medical appointments, and provides a healthy and nutritious meal to homeless and lower income families. We serve an average of 90 people every Sunday afternoon. Dee Dee is very active in the Monday Morning Bible Study Fellowship, Sisters for all Season Inter-generational Bible Study, and mentoring young students wishing to pursue a career in culinary arts.
