After missing his entire rookie season due to a knee injury suffered during the preseason, running back Derrius Guice is ready to have a breakout season. EA Sports’ Madden \19\ agrees.
In the Madden article Player To Watch, Guice is featured along with the likes of Chris Godwin and Kenny Golladay. Writer Daniel Williams had a lot of praise for the LSU product.
“Guice was getting Ezekiel Elliott comparisons before the NFL Draft, and it’s absurd that someone of his talent wasn’t snagged until the late second round. He’s got power, quickness, and is elusive,” he writes. “Even with Alex Smith at the helm, Washington leaned into a more run-heavy offense. Currently, the QB situation next season is a bit bleak in [Washington], so expect an even heavier ground game approach in which Guice will be a feasting on yards. He could be next season’s big ratings leader in terms of OVR climb.”
In last year’s Madden, Guice was a 78 overall, with 90 speed, 93 agility, 91 carrying, 91 trucking and 85 juke move. Due to Guice not playing a single game last season, his ratings did not have any upgrades over the course of the season.
In his lone preseason game last year, Guice had six rush attempts for 19 yards. This year, Guice is expected to compete for the starting position, and live up to his high potential.
