Kia MVP Of The Game: Josh Norman

Coming off a tough showing in Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints and a week in which he received some criticism, Josh Norman rebounded greatly against Carolina. Lined up across from his former team, the seventh-year corner had both an interception and a forced fumble, making him the Kia MVP of the Game.

Norman's first highlight reel play came at the start of the second quarter on a third-and-17 for the Panthers offense. The Redskins defensive line created some pressure up front, forcing Carolina quarterback Cam Newton to throw the ball up and hope his receiver Devin Funchess would come down with it. However, the ball would find the hands of Norman, who leaped high in the air to corral his first interception since Week 16 of the 2016 season.

Just three minutes of game action later, Norman created his second turnover of the game, this time punching the ball out of the hands of Panthers' wide receiver DJ Moore. Linebacker Mason Foster recovered the fumble, setting the Redskins offense up once again.

Norman's two turnovers played a large role in what was a strong day overall for the Redskins defense, which held the Panthers to just 17 points, held Christian McCaffrey to 20 yards rushing and came up with a crucial stand in the final minute of the game.

“It felt really good. The way we started the game, we finished the game," Norman said about the defense. "We started the game with defense on the field and we finished with the defense on the field, and that’s what you want."
