Coming off a performance last week in which he threw for over 300 yards, Alex Smith only threw for a modest 178 in Week 10. But a crucial fourth quarter touchdown pass helped the Redskins earn a win and Smith earn the KIA MVP of the Game.

The Redskins entered the fourth quarter with just a 6-3 lead, but found themselves in great position to tack on some much needed insurance points. On a third-and-5 from the Tampa Bay six-yard line, Smith was able to avoid a sack, buy time in the pocket and fire a strike to the receiver Josh Doctson in the end zone for a touchdown to give Washington a 13-3 lead.

The score would be all the Redskins needed, as some clutch plays by the defense helped solidify a 16-3 win. Smith was once again efficient on offense, and did a solid job of protecting the football. Sunday was the sixth game this season in which Smith did not throw an interception.

“I do think we’re a tough team, a gritty team. A team thus far in the season that has been in a lot of big games and big moments," Smith said. "I don’t think we shy from them. I think we embrace that role. I think those are all good things."
