Redskins' tight end Jordan Reed put up some monstrous numbers last season (87 catches, 952 yards, 11 touchdowns). Most people would consider those Pro Bowl caliber numbers.
If Reed equals or exceeds that level of production this season, will he hop on a plane to Orlando, Fla., early next year and make his first Pro Bowl appearance?
With the NFL recently announcing the Pro Bowl's move back stateside next January, NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal highlighted nine players he thinks could possibly make their first Pro Bowl appearance after the 2016 regular season, and Reed was one of them.
"The new Pro Bowl setup should help Reed quite a bit," Rosenthal said. "With Seahawks’ tight end] [Jimmy Graham coming off serious injury, Panthers’ tight end] [Greg Olsen is the only truly established NFC tight end favorite at the position. Reed put up 675 yards] and six touchdowns in his final eight games last season, including his monster outing in the playoffs against the [Green Bay] [Packers Nine catches, 120 yards, one touchdown]. There are a lot of wide receivers for [Redskins’ quarterback] [Kirk Cousins to feed in Washington, yet Reed should be his top option."
Reed, like the rest of his teammates, is hard at work in the second week of OTAs. The national accolades are good and all, but Reed's main concern right now is keeping the Redskins on the right path toward, what he and the team hopes, is another strong season.
"We just want to live up to the way that we played the last couple of games last season and keep performing that way and try to repeat [as NFC East champions]," Reed said.
