CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Washington Redskins got their second consecutive win against the Carolina Panthers, 29-21. Here's a statistical look at Sunday's game.

The Redskins have been inconsistent when it comes to rushing opposing quarterbacks, but that certainly wasn't the case against the Kyle Allen and the Panthers. Led by defensive lineman Matt Ioannidis, the Redskins sacked Allen seven times Sunday, which is a five-year high for the franchise. The last time the Redskins got that many sacks was in Week 8 of the 2018 season against the New York Giants.
The Redskins had five players record at least half a sack. Ioannidis and linebacker Chris Odom led the team with two sacks a piece. Ioannidis had his first multi-sack game of the season, while Odom, who was just promoted from the practice squad, secured the game with a strip sack with 14 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

As a team that likes to run the football, the Redskins were expected to have a productive day against the 27th-worst rushing defense. Still, Sunday's game turned out to be by far their best performance of the year.
The Redskins rushed the ball 30 times for 248 yards on 8.3 yards per carry and three touchdowns. Running back Derrius Guice, who is just three games removed from being on injured reserve, led the offense with 10 carries for 129 yards and two scores. Adrian Peterson wasn't too far behind with 99 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.
The game was also Guice's first 100-yard game of his career. After missing most of the season with a torn meniscus, the former LSU player has 203 yards and three scores this year.
It's been a long time since the Redskins had this many rushing yards. The last time they did it was in 2012 when Robert Griffin III and Alfred Morris combined for 209 yards en route to another 248-yard rushing day from the offense.

Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey has been the league's best rusher for most of the year, but the Redskins' defense didn't have a problem keeping him contained Sunday.
McCaffrey came into Sunday's game averaging about 93 yards with six 100-yard games. The Redskins held McCaffrey to about half of that with 44 yards on 14 attempts. What's more, the defense also made McCaffrey miss about half his targets as a receiver and even made him drop a pass for the first time all season.
McCaffrey, like the rest of the Panthers' offense, was rolling in the first quarter with 35 yards. But that success was short-lived, as the Redskins' defense held McCaffrey to just nine yards for the rest of the game.
Sunday's game was just the third time McCaffrey has been held to less than 50 yards on the ground all season.

Touchdowns have not come easy for this Redskins offense lately, but you wouldn't know that by watching them work against the Panthers. Their 29 points are the most they have put up since Week 3 of the 2018 season when they beat the Green Bay Packers, 31-17.
The Redskins found the end zone three times Sunday, which is the first time they have accomplished that since Week 2 against the Cowboys. In one game, the offense scored more touchdowns than it did in a five-game stretch starting against the San Francisco 49ers and ending against the Detroit Lions.

Third downs have consistently been a problem for the Redskins' defense, and it looked as if that was going to be true against the Panthers as well after a rough first quarter. The Panthers moved down the field with ease on their first two drives with both of their scoring plays coming on third downs.
But once the defense settled down, the Panthers were held to just three third down conversions for the rest of the game for 31%. After scoring its second touchdown, the Panthers were held without a third-down conversion for the next five drives. The next time the Panthers converted a third down came in the second half when Ryan Anderson was disqualified for a hit on tight Greg Olsen that came with a 15-yard penalty.
