After spending the last five seasons on different teams, quarterback Alex Smith and tight end Vernon Davis will once again be teammates with the Washington Redskins.

They haven't played together since the 2012 season, but Alex Smith has been reunited with his favorite target from his San Francisco 49ers days.

As you likely know by now, the Redskins aquired Smith via trade when the new league year opened on Thursday. Once he's back on the field, Smith will have a familiar face to work with in the form of tight end Vernon Davis.

In their seven seasons together, Smith targeted Davis 360 times and the tight end recorded 230 receptions for 2,933 yards and 30 touchdowns. Only one other 49ers player during Smith's tenure in San Francisco recorded more than 2,000 yards and 10 touchdowns with the quarterback under center, and that was Michael Crabtree. Crabtree totaled 2,385 yards and 11 touchdowns on 199 receptions.

While Smith was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs following the 2012 season and Vernon Davis was sent to the Denver Broncos midseason in 2015, they will be teammates once again in Washington.

Smith is coming off a Pro Bowl season in which he threw for career highs in passing yards (4,042) and passing touchdowns (26) while leading the NFL in passer rating at 104.7. Davis, meanwhile, has tallied a combined 87 receptions for 1,231 yards and five touchdowns in his first two seasons with the Redskins.
