A second-round pick in the 2015 Draft, Funchess had been coming off of a breakout season where he had been moved to the 'X' receiver position, and responded in earnest with a career-high 63 catches for 840 yards and four touchdowns.
Entering the final year of his rookie contract, Funchess had an opportunity to prove that he was capable of being a true No. 1 receiver and parlay that into both a big contract and his continued future in Carolina.
Drops have been a major concern for Funchess in every year of his career, as he's now dropped a whopping 23, including six this past season (NFL high was eight). A change of scenery could help him, but he'll need to tune up his hands if he wants a long-term contract either with the Panthers, or elsewhere.
