2008 (Giants)

• Played solely on special teams as a rookie and recorded two special teams tackles in his NFL debut on Oct. 19.
• He suffered a transverse process fracture in the preseason opener and did not return to game action until Week 7 of the regular season.
• Placed on injured reserve on Dec. 17, 2008.

College:

• Played in 46 games with 36 starts.
• Became the 10^th player in school history to lead the team in tackles in consecutive season (2006-07).
• Over his career he totaled, 307 tackles (202 solo), 15.5 tackles for losses of 67 yards, 6.5 sacks, three interceptions and three forced fumbles.
• As a senior in 2007, he was a team captain and named an All-Southeastern Conference 2^nd team choice.
• Led his team for a 2^nd straight year with a career-high 113 tackles (61 solo), ranking 4^th in the conference with an average of 9.42 tackles per game.
• During his senior year, he also had three sacks, 6.5 tackles for losses, six quarterback pressures, five passes defensed, and two interceptions.
• As a junior in 2006 he was named 2^nd team All-SEC by conference coaches, and received the team’s Most Valuable Linebacker Award.
• In 2006, he led the team in tackles with 93 (67 solo) and also 2.5 sacks, six tackles for losses, four quarterback pressures, two forced fumbles, two passes defensed, one interception and one blocked kicked.
• As a sophomore, he started 10 games at middle linebacker and was 3^rd on the team in tackles with 63 (47 solo).
• Played in every game, and started the final four as redshirt freshman.

Personal:

• During the summer, he mentors youngsters near his hometown of Peabody, Mass.
• He attended St. John’s Prep in Danvers, Mass where he was a three-year starter and captain.
• Over his high school career he played safety, receiver, quarterback, running back and outside linebacker.
• Helped his team post undefeated regular seasons in 2001 and 2002.
• He rushed for 920 yards on 104 attempts in 2002, and passed for nine touchdowns and ran for 642 yards as a junior quarterback.
• Was a 2-time All-Conference selection and earned Prep Start All-East honors as a senior.
• Also started for the basketball and track & field teams and was one of the state’s top track performers with 11.0 in the 100 meter, and 163 feet in discus throw.
• Was an honor student who participated in the Johns Hopkins University Gifted and Talented Student Program and St. John’s Prep Leadership Institute. Also earned the St. John’s French award in 2000.
• Son of Gwendolyn Tyre, who was the 1^st African-American law clerk on the Georgina Supreme Court.
