  • Along with his mother, Nancy, and brother, Tanner, hosted the second annual “Cooley’s Rally for the Cure” during the 2010 offseason at Caliente in Ashburn, Va. – a benefit to raise money and awareness for the fight against cancer with the all proceeds going to the Relay for Life organization.
  • Invited nearly two dozen little fans battling big diseases to a special Training Camp practice (July 2008) where he surprised them each with a duffel bag full of gifts, including a handheld game system, games and Redskins memorabilia, as well as a visit with the entire Redskins team.
  • Hosted approximately 20 women battling breast cancer at Redskins Park in November 2008 to provide them a day of pampering that included lunch, a Cooley-led tour, and a new wig, scarf, turban, bag of makeup and pair of jeans.
  • Hosted the second-annual Old Spice Chris Cooley Football Camp during the 2010 offseason where he spent two days teaching fundamentals to area youth.
  • As part of a Athletes for Animals, visited D.C. area schools with his dogs and Washington Humane Society Educators during the 2010 offseason to speak to students about the importance of treating animals with respect and kindness.
  • During the 2010 offseason, hosted “Pottery & Paintings,” an art show to benefit The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation.
  • Served as an Executive Producer and played a sheriff in the movie “Ghosts Don’t Exist” which was filmed during the 2009 offseason.
  • Along with wife, Christy, teamed with Derrick and Emma Dockery, the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and the American Cancer Society during the 2009 season to host the second annual “All Star Survivors Luncheon” for area women battling cancer. Each breast cancer survivor received gift including a new wig, a custom-made pink and burgundy Redskins jersey and jeans donated from the GAP.
  • Teamed with Kidney Care Partners to speak to legislation on Capitol Hill regarding the importance of kidney disease awareness, prevention and education (April 2006).
  • Appeared on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” - which aired in September 2008. Placed designer Ed Sanders through football drills at Redskins Park and signed autographs which were placed in the house being remodeled by the show’s crew.
  • Majored in art at Utah State and enjoys painting and crafting pottery.
