• Released prior to the season but signed to the practice squad a day later. Spent his full rookie season with the team’s practice squad.

COLLEGE:

• Started 38 of 46 games at North Carolina, with 11 starts at middle linebacker and 27 at weakside linebacker.
• Recorded 309 career tackles (192 solos) with seven sacks, 27.5 tackles for a loss and seven QB pressures.
• Also added two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries, returning two for 58 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown.
• Had nine passes defensed and intercepted four others for 90 yards in returns, including a TD.
• Was a Preseason All-American, All-ACC, Nagurski and Butkus Award candidate who played in eight games (seven starts) at weakside OLB as a senior.

• Enrolled at UNC in January after graduating high school early and adjusted to linebacker after performing mostly at QB and SS during his prep playing days.

PERSONAL:

• Attended West Stanly H.S. (Durham, N.C.) where he played quarterback and strong safety and earned Rocky River Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors as a senior.
• Was a three-time all-conference and two-time All-State honoree.
• Was a member of North Carolina’s Shrine Bowl team, completing 99-of-179 passes for 1,794 yards and 21 TDs, adding 745 yards on 111 rushing attempts in 2006.
• Also had 12 tackles, one INT and two passes defensed, helping lead the Colts to a 9-4 record and the second round of the Class 2-A state playoffs.
