As a senior in 2011, he started 13 games at right guard, helping the Hawkeyes to a 7-5 regular season record and second consecutive Insight Bowl berth.
Was a part of an offensive line that blocked for running back Marcus Coker who averaged 115.3 yards rushing per game which was second-best in the Big Ten Conference.
Selected second-team All-Big Ten by conference coaches, and earned honorable mention form the media.
Started just two games a junior while battling injuries, but started at during a 37-6 win over No. 5 Michigan State.
Helped running back Marcus Coker rush for 219 yards in the 2010 Insight Bowl, which earned Coker Offensive MVP for the game.

Personal:

Attended Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort, Ill., where he was named first ream all-state and all-conference as a senior.
Played both offense and defense for several seasons and helped lead his team to a 2005 state championship.
As a defensive lineman he recorded 29 tackles and eight sacks in two seasons.
As offensive tackles and center, he had 149 pancake blocks, with a career-high 69 as a senior.
He also lettered in basketball and track & field. He placed second in the shot put at the state meet in 2005.
