ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today have added strong safety Chris Horton to The Redskins Ticket for the 2009 Pro Bowl.
Horton is an upstart candidate. He may be a rookie in the National Football League, but he has proven himself as a strong contender.
Horton’s bid started as a grass-roots campaign when he traveled cross-country from UCLA to Washington, D.C. last spring. He quietly built his credentials in the summer, and then in early September--just when election season kicked into high gear--he emerged on the scene, winning NFC Defensive Rookie of the Month honors.
Horton’s nickname “The Predator” is appropriate because his upstart campaign has other Pro Bowl candidates on the run.
And yet, Horton remains somewhat of an enigma.
“If I could be anyone in the world, then one day I’d be myself,” he said recently.
Fans can be like Horton by voting for him--and other Redskins candidates on The Redskins Ticket--at www.redskins.com. Pro Bowl voting continues through Dec. 9, and fans are encouraged to vote as often as they want.
Horton, who grew up in New Orleans and said his favorite food is Jumbalaya, has developed a strong base of Redskins fans that should help him in his campaign.
“Redskins fans are great,” he said. “I could not have asked to be part of a better team, better organization, with great fans. It’s exciting.”
As the Pro Bowl campaign heads into the final stages, Horton’s opponents may try to emphasize his inexperience. It appears that strategy isn’t working.
Horton has shown he is a true leader.
“Leadership can mean a lot of different things, but if you’re doing the right things and people see that, then you’re doing a great job of being a leader,” he said in a recent stump speech.

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today added kicker Shaun Suisham to the Redskins Ticket for the 2009 Pro Bowl.
The selection of Suisham really serves to emphasize the global nature of the Redskins Ticket, at Suisham was born in Wallaceburg, Ontario. There are only eleven Canadians currently playing in the National Football League, and the Redskins are proud to have one of them.
Despite his international upbringing, though, Suisham has quickly learned one of the inalienable truths of the United States. "Redskins fans are unbelievable," he says. "In the short time I've been around, I've really come to understand and respect just how passionate they are."
And he has no problem fitting in with teammates from all background. "The funniest Redskin is Fred Smoot," Suisham observes. "He's my neighbor, and I get to spend a lot of time with him in the locker room. I think because he's such a sharp contrast from my personality, I like being around him."
Sure, some of his tastes may be foreign to American sensibilities – his favorite band is The Tragically Hip – but Suisham's production more than makes up for an cross-cultural confusion. This season, he is hitting all of his extra points and more than 75% of his field goals including a 50 yarder, showing off the strong leg and nerves of steel that make a Pro Bowl kicker.
And Suisham appreciates the life he leads and the honor of being named to the Redskins Ticket. "Football is the best sport in the world," he says, "because they invented a position for a guy like me."

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today announce that wide receiver Santana Moss is once again a candidate for the Pro Bowl.
Moss was elected to the Pro Bowl following the 2005 season. Since then, Moss has put up solid numbers but he has not been able to win re-election campaigns.
This year, Moss has re-emerged.
Moss, nicknamed ‘Tana, is the Redskins’ big play guy, and that could translate to big gains in election returns.
Pro Bowl voting is underway, and Redskins fans can vote for Moss and other candidates by voting The Redskins Ticket online at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote as often as they want.
Moss showed his maturity last offseason when he married his childhood sweetheart at a wedding in Hollywood, Fla. Voters should not infer that his nuptials signal an end to the fun-loving Moss they have come to know and love on the football field.
“Whatever fun is, I’m doing it,” he said.
Even if that means going fishing and bowling, two of Moss’s favorite off-field activities.
Scoring a touchdown at FedExField earlier this year, Moss simulated a rock concert at FedExField by playing air guitar with the football in the end zone.
That was appropriate, because Moss has said that Redskins fans remind him of “rock stars.”
“They rock hard,” he said. “I love it!”
Moss’s enduring message to voters is a reminder that no one should take their voting privileges lightly: if you want to vote 100 times for The Redskins Ticket, then you can go ahead and do it no matter what Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants fans have to say.
“Stay focused, stay motivated, never let anyone distract you from your goals and never let anyone tell you what you can’t do,” Moss said. “Whenever people told me I couldn’t do something, I stayed humble, stayed focused and proved them wrong.”

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today added guard Randy Thomas to the Redskins Ticket for the 2009 Pro Bowl.
Thomas is a selection who appeals to the simple values inside all of us, the basics that underlie life as well as football. "When I'm not playing football I like to wake up, eat, go to sleep, eat again," Thomas says, plainly. "Wake up also again, before eating," he clarifies. "All the time, wake up then eat."
And what does he eat, this culinary aficionado? Is his favorite food something that only a football player can afford, or only a gourmand can find? As with so much else about Thomas, his answer is much more fundamental than that: "Fried chicken," he says decisively.
Fundamentals are important to him on the football field as well. He's a throwback to the Hogs of old, a tough-nosed offensive lineman who relishes the battle in the trenches. "My best moment on gameday," Thomas says with a steely-eyed grimness, "is after I sniff that ammonia, it's time to hit somebody." That mentality has driven Thomas to open holes paving the way to an MVP-caliber season for his running back, Clinton Portis.
Thomas also brings to the ticket strong ties to the southern part of America. A proud Atlanta-born Mississippi State grad, he calls Fred Smoot his favorite Redskins "because he's Mississippi State, with a sense of humor."
Randy Thomas is a clear choice this voting season, for fans of hard-nosed football and aspiring gourmands alike, and all are encouraged to vote early and often at www.redskins.com.

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today announce that punter Ryan Plackemeier is a candidate for the 2009 Pro Bowl.
Plackemeier is a newcomer to Pro Bowl politics, having joined the Redskins midseason. He is an unlikely candidate. Plackemeier was out of work a month ago and now he is running for the highest honor--in terms of punters--in the land.
Plackemeier is an unlikely punter, too. Just look at him. He stands at 6-3 and 247 pounds, and some of the team’s linemen want him on their side in the trenches.
Should Plackemeier be voted into the Pro Bowl, he could be available to serve as an emergency offensive or defensive lineman. Who wouldn't want to see that?
Pro Bowl voting is underway, and fans can vote for Plackemeier and other candidates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote as often as they want.
Plackemeier, who says his hallmark is "consistency," has a strong contingent of fans on both coasts. He grew up in San Diego, went to Wake Forest in North Carolina, and established himself as a pro in Seattle.
Now Plackemeier is back on the east coast with the Redskins.
After a recent trip to the battleground state of Michigan, Plackemeier's campaign is reaching the middle part of the country, where he hopes to turn blue and red states into Redskins states.

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today have announced that right tackle Jon Jansen is an official candidate for the 2009 Pro Bowl.
Jansen was not on the Pro Bowl ballot early on, but he has proven to be this election season’s comeback kid. He earned so many write-in votes that he re-claimed his starting job--and campaign momentum--at midseason.
And he hasn’t looked back.
“I want to make sure I have no regrets and I go out and take every day for what it is,” Jansen said in an inspiring campaign speech. “It’s a great day for being out playing football and doing what I love.”
Jansen is the senior member of the Redskins, having played for the club since 1999. Long mentioned as a legitimate Pro Bowl-caliber right tackle, Jansen has taken part in 10 elections but has yet to push through.
Online Pro Bowl voting is underway, and fans can vote for Jansen and other candidates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote as often as they want.
Jansen is the original “Rock” of the Redskins. He earned that nickname--long before fellow candidates Rock Cartwright and Rocky McIntosh arrived on the scene--for his dependability and durability, two traits that should serve him well as he campaigns.
Jansen hails from the long-time battleground state of Michigan, known for the automobile industry. His campaign credentials include opening up fast lanes for speedsters like Clinton Portis.
Every July, Jansen brings his RV to Redskins Park to set up campaign headquarters and provide supporters an oasis from the rigors of training camp. He holds daily election meetings inside the RV, and also takes long naps between practices.

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today announce that linebacker Rocky McIntosh is officially a candidate for the 2009 Pro Bowl.
McIntosh is the classic candidate who seemingly comes out of nowhere, strikes a chord with voters, and makes his presence known in the race for the Pro Bowl.
McIntosh was an afterthought heading into the campaign season because he was coming off knee surgery last year. It was thought rehab would take time away from his campaign, but he has come back strong and is making a run at a Pro Bowl seat.
As Redskins fans are well aware by now, Pro Bowl voting is underway. Fans can vote for McIntosh and other candidates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote as often as they want.
McIntosh has two strong advocates in fellow University of Miami alums Clinton Portis and Santana Moss. But McIntosh is not your typical U-of-M player because he tends to be more on the quiet side.
When he wants to go on the attack against opponents on the campaign trail, watch out.
“I play at full speed,” he said. “That’s what I’m going to do no matter how I feel or what point I’m at. Once you step on the field, it’s either hit or be hit. And I don’t want to be hit.”
McIntosh devotes his time to dozens of charitable efforts--adding to his appeal among voters. Every year, he participates in Redskins Charitable Foundation events, reading Dr. Seuss to kids, showing kids proper physical fitness and kissing babies of adoring fans.

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today announce that tight end Chris Cooley is a candidate for re-election to the 2009 Pro Bowl. Cooley earned his first Pro Bowl nod last year, thanks to countless fans who voted for him online.
Cooley’s re-election bid includes a vast Internet campaign. As the author of a popular blog, his Pro Bowl credentials reach far across the World Wide Web.
The blog allows Cooley to share his life with fans while also offering straight talk on the state of affairs in the NFL and around the world.
Redskins fans can once again vote for Cooley and his teammates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Pro Bowl voting is officially underway, and fans are encouraged to vote as often as they can.
Cooley, known to many fans by his nickname “Captain Chaos,” emphasizes that he does not advocate Pro Bowl anarchy in his platform.
Instead, Cooley wants voters to know his position statement includes keeping things “loose.”
“I’m always doing something different,” Cooley said. “I try to mix it up on everybody.”
That’s how he thrives at Redskins Park--and that’s what he’ll bring to the Pro Bowl in Honolulu, where keeping things loose is an art form. No wonder he has Colt Brennan, former Hawaii quarterback, contributing to his blog.
Cooley recently said he is most proud of his consistency and durability, two traits that should aid him in his second consecutive bid for the Pro Bowl.
“I credit myself a little bit for being a guy who is always there,” he said. “I always practice, I always play and I never miss anything. Over a long period of time, that says a lot.”

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today have announced that defensive tackle Kedric Golston is a candidate for the 2009 Pro Bowl.
Golston’s campaign base is in the South, where he attended the University of Georgia. The energy, enthusiasm and intensity he brings to football should aid him well as he courts votes for the Pro Bowl.
Golston has already earned key endorsements from Phillip Daniels and Demetric Evans, a pair of defensive line teammates who also played at the University of Georgia.
Pro Bowl voting is underway, and Redskins fans can show their support for Carter and his teammates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote as often as they want.
Golston can be an intimidating force off the field as well. That’s something fans may want to keep in mind as they cast their Pro Bowl votes.
Just ask Greg Blache, his coach the last three years.
“Kedric? He’s never going to let you be comfortable,” Blache said. “He’s going to push you.”
One of Golston’s key campaign strategies is to get involved with NASCAR, one of the nation’s leading spectator sports. He has courted votes at NASCAR races in Richmond, Va., and Concord, N.C., this year.
“I have a keen interest in race car driving,” he said. “It’s just the sounds, smells and speed of the cars.”
Proving he’s a man of the people, Golston won a celebrity pizza eating contest last year, reportedly putting away 14 slices in 10 minutes at a local restaurant.

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today have formally announced that left guard Pete Kendall is a candidate for the 2009 Pro Bowl.
Kendall is from New England and has played professional football in Seattle, Arizona, New York and Washington, D.C. He’s expecting to draw plenty of votes from the northeast and western states.
While he has no immediate plans to play football in the south or the mid-west, he is looking forward to campaigning in prominent battleground states like Michigan, Ohio and Florida later this season.
Pro Bowl voting is underway, and Redskins fans can show their support for Kendall and other nominated teammates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote as many times as they want.
Kendall’s distinctive Boston accent is Kennedy-esque, but there is no relation to the famous political family from Massachusetts.
If elected, Kendall emphasized he won’t be partisan. He is happy to work with his AFC counterparts to produce a compelling Pro Bowl game next February.
Kendall has made sure that his political bases are covered. He calls Redskins fans a “passionate and loyal fan base.” And he maintains his New England ties by watching “Boston Legal,” his favorite television show.
Kendall has also made it clear that character is an important part of his campaign.
“Leadership is doing the right thing continuously, when nobody is looking,” Kendall said. “It is not what you say, but how you act.”
It’s expected that Kendall will name fellow Redskins offensive lineman Jason Fabini as his campaign manager. “He’s my go-to guy,” Kendall said of Fabini.

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today have formally announced that fullback Mike Sellers is a candidate for the 2009 Pro Bowl.
Sellers’ campaign has an international flavor. He was born in Frankfurt, Germany and grew up in Washington State. He established himself as a football player in the Canadian Football League, playing in Edmonton.
Sellers first arrived in our Nation’s Capital in 1998. After playing in Winnipeg of the CFL, he returned to Washington, D.C., in 2004.
Quietly, Sellers has been among the NFL’s best fullbacks for several years. Last year, he lost a Pro Bowl bid to Minnesota’s Tony Richardson, who blocked for Adrian Peterson.
This year, Richardson switched parties and signed with the AFC’s New York Jets, opening the door for Sellers to capture a Pro Bowl seat in the NFC. He blocks for Clinton Portis, who is once again among the NFL’s elite running backs.
“I’ve always said that I’d rather lay someone out with a hard block than score a touchdown,” Sellers said.
Pro Bowl voting is underway, and Redskins fans can show their support for Sellers and his teammates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote as often as they want.
As the NFL broadens its horizons with games in overseas markets like London, Sellers’ experience in international affairs should benefit him.
He’ll be well-rested, too. “When I’m not playing football, I like to sleep,” he said.
Sellers courts votes in Texas, even though that state is the home of the Dallas Cowboys, the Redskins’ top rival. Sellers says his favorite memory as a Redskin is “any touchdown I’ve scored against Dallas.”
That should be enough to secure every vote from Redskins Nation.

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today have announced that defensive end Andre Carter is a candidate for the 2009 Pro Bowl.
Carter’s Pro Bowl dream began at the University of California-Berkeley from 1996-2000, where he liberally rushed quarterbacks during his illustrious four-year career.
As the Pac-10’s top defensive linemen in his senior season, Carter helped encourage fan activism at Cal football games.
Carter was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers and signed with the Redskins in March 2006. In the NFL, he tries to “set the tempo,” an approach he expects to bring to his campaign for the Pro Bowl.
“I try to be consistent with that and bring it every play,” he said.
Pro Bowl voting is underway, and Redskins fans can show their support for Carter and his teammates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote as often as they want.
Anyone who doesn’t think Carter is qualified to hold office at the Pro Bowl need only look at his chiseled physique. His experience as a workout warrior should help strengthen Redskins Nation.
Carter also encourages a balanced nutrition program for America's citizens, including plenty of helpings of spaghetti, his favorite meal.
Carter said he draws his inspiration from the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali. Some memorable quote from Ali that apply to Carter: “I float like a butterfly and sting like a bee” and “If you even dream of beating me, you better wake up and apologize.”

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today formally announced the candidacy of center Casey Rabach for selection to the 2009 Pro Bowl.
Just like his position on the football field, Rabach maintains a centrist approach on the issues of the day. He has no preference whether the Redskins’ offense is conservative by running the ball or liberal with deep passes downfield.
Perhaps hearkening back to FDR’s famous words “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself,” Rabach’s campaign has thrived on instilling fear in opponents around the league.
“My favorite moment on Sundays is coming from the sidelines into the huddle and seeing the fear in the eyes of the defensive linemen,” he said.
Pro Bowl voting is officially underway, and Redskins fans can show their support for Rabach and other teammates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote as often as they want.
As an admirer of “old school” folks like mentor Joe Bugel, Rabach is expected to make education a top priority in his campaign. Given his nickname “Vanilla Gorilla” due to excessive body hair, Rabach wants to fight for equal rights for hairy men around the world.
But when it comes to a position statement on most issues, Rabach stays right in the middle every time.
What’s his favorite food? “Anything that is on the table,” he replies.
Rabach may be in the center on most issues, but his straightforward approach has won him plenty of admirers from all walks of life.
“It is fun each and every day to go out there in front of FedExField, in front of all the fans, and listen to them cheer for this guy, No. 61,” Rabach said.

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today have announced the candidacy of free safety LaRon Landry for selection to the 2009 Pro Bowl.
Not surprisingly, Landry promises an aggressive, hard-hitting campaign. His television commercials and radio spots suggest he will go on the attack against opponents, much like he does on the football field.
“Football is my best sport because you are able to give off aggression,” Landry said. “Just go out there, play, and just let it loose.”
With Pro Bowl voting underway, Redskins fans can show their support for Landry and other nominated teammates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote as many times as they want.
As a safety, Landry is expected to put defense at the top of his agenda if elected. An intimidating presence, he attacks issues head-on.
“It comes with the territory,” he said, in yet another example of his straight talk with American people. “I’m just back there at safety giving it all I got. If a guy is coming across the middle and he’s afraid to get hit, that’s on him.”
Landry’s hard-nosed approach to winning the election includes a thoughtful message for the kids of today.
“My message to kids is to stay in school,” he said. “Become an over-achiever. Don’t follow anybody. Be a leader. You can achieve anything you want as long as you put your mind to it.”

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today added Cornerback Carlos Rogers to the Redskins Ticket for the 2009 Pro Bowl.
At this point in the season, there's no doubt that the honor is deserved. Rogers is in the top five in the league in passes defensed, and he has certainly earned the respect of his teammates.
"He's been playing lights-out at the cornerback position," said Linebacker London Fletcher, adding that Rogers was quite possibly performing as one of the top cover corners in the league.
As his coverage skills have increased over the years, so has his leadership philosophy. "A leader is somebody who leads by example," he says, "whether you are talking or you are quiet- and a lot of people follow you and want to be like you."
Rogers may be an elite corner, but his populist tastes help him appeal to the ordinary folks in Redskins Nation – he's got Jay-Z on his iPod, he relaxes with Chris Tucker films, and his comfort food is macaroni and cheese.
Although he's a proud member of the Redskins Ticket, Rogers's years in the secondary have him prepared to lead alone if need be, which is important to the electorate. "My biggest thing is making sure I shut down my guy. It's pretty much me by myself out on an island. I don't think about it. I just sit there in my coverage, eliminate some of the stuff I think he's going to do, and just take it from there and just play."
It's that sort of attitude that makes Carlos Rogers the kind of person Redskins Nation can get behind, by voting early and often at www.redskins.com.

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today added Wide Receiver Antwaan Randle El to the Redskins Ticket for the 2009 Pro Bowl.
Election watchers immediately hailed this as a savvy yet valid, bold yet sensible selection. "He brings an incredibly strong element of faith and family values to the ticket," said one representative of an independent polling company, "and that's what a lot of voters are looking for. Also, he's a threat both catching and throwing the ball. Voters like that, too."
Randle El's first public statements upon being nominated reflect at least the first half of that analysis. "My greatest accomplishment is having a wonderful wife and five beautiful children," Randle El said, "and my favorite food in the world is macaroni and cheese."
Mac and cheese may seem like a risky choice, potentially alienating the powerful anti-cheese lobby, but polling indicates that the public finds it comforting. "That's soul food," said Matt Taylor, a lifelong member of Redskins Nation. "Who can argue with mac and cheese?"
Even Randle El's nickname among his teammates reflects this back-to-a-better-time approach. "They call me Uncle Elroy is because I’m an old-school kind of guy. The way I wear my socks, the way I wear my tie, the way I wear my pants in the game … I even have old mannerisms."
He also has an old-school approach to playing the game, hearkening back to the days of players who excelled all over the field, including Redskins greats like punter/quarterback Sammy Baugh. Randle El is an excellent receiver, but his passer rating of 154.1 is the highest in the history of the NFL among players who have attempted at least 12 passes.
Randle El should also help bring in some of the religious vote. “My best moment on Sunday is coming out of that locker room, coming out of that tunnel. I get so pumped up then because I have another chance to go out and show the world what I can do," he says, and he celebrates that moment by gesturing upwards to "open up the windows of heaven and let God pour out his blessings."
Whether you vote based on values, on cheesy pasta dinners, or on football acumen, Antwaan Randle El represents an easy and obvious choice this voting season. So all of Redskins Nation is encouraged to vote early and often at www.redskins.com.

Rock Cartwright is your basic institutional Redskin, born and bred in the organization.
Cartwright is a bona fide “team guy,” which he has shown ever since the day Washington selected him on the seventh round out of Kansas State in 2002.
And yet if you ask Cartwright for his individual football wish list, he’d say he’d like to make the Pro Bowl as a kick returner and special teams standout.
Correspondingly, in a special election season update, the Redskins today announced that they have nominated Cartwright for the 2009 AFC-NFC Pro Bowl, which is set for Sunday, Feb. 9, in Honolulu.
Cartwright says that this election season the country really needs a change in terms of its Pro Bowl voting practices. He maintains that for the past seven years there haven’t been enough burgundy and gold states.
It’s easy to understand what motivates Cartwright when he’s in front of a crowd. “My opinion of Redskins fans is we have the greatest fans ever,” he explains.
The 28-year-old candidate out of Conroe, Texas particularly endeared himself to Redskins fans in 2006 when he took a kickoff back for a 100-yard TD at Dallas.
Cartwright calls that effort, coming in a royal blue, metallic silver and white state, “my most memorable play in a Redskins uniform.”
This Pro Bowl election season is likely to be filled with its share of humorous moments. But Cartwright knows that he’s well prepared for any offbeat instances that may emerge.
Fred Smoot, Cartwright says, prepares you for just about anything. “Fred’s the funniest Redskin; he never stops talking,” Cartwright adds.
Like most candidates, Cartwright enjoys the odd golf outing, although he admits Tiger Woods and Padraig Harrington have nothing to fear.
Anyone who encounters Cartwright this election season may want to bring along slices of pizza, his favorite food, and brush up on the movie “Untraceable,” his most revered flick.
Before joining the NFL and K-State, he once rushed for 397 yards in a game. His candidacy is a protracted one, too.
But the central focus of his election campaign has to do with improving education levels—as they relate to Pro Bowl voting or otherwise.
Says Cartwright: “My greatest accomplishment outside of football is graduating from Kansas State. So, my message to the kids is stay in school, work hard and pay attention to your parents.”
Pro Bowl voting is underway, and Redskins fans can show their support for Cartwright and other nominated teammates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote early and often.

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today formally announced that left tackle Chris Samuels is making a bid for re-election to the Pro Bowl.
Samuels has been elected to the Pro Bowl five times this decade. He adds experience and good old country charm to the campaign season.
Pro Bowl voting is underway, and Redskins fans can show their support for Samuels and other nominated teammates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote early and often.
As left tackle, Samuels protects the quarterback’s blind side from menacing pass rushers. He wants Redskins Nation to know that he’ll do whatever is necessary to protect them, too.
“To me, the word leadership means always standing out and doing the right thing, and trying to pull guys in the right direction,” Samuels said.
Part of Samuels’ appeal every election season is that even though he is a leader, he is also just one of the guys. He understands what everyday people go through as they root on the Redskins.
Samuels, whose favorite movie is “Independence Day,” is a true hands-on candidate.
“My favorite moment on Sundays is running out of the tunnel and priding it up with all my teammates and looking at their faces, getting ready to do battle with them,” he said.
Samuels’ campaign headquarters is once again in his hometown of Mobile, Ala., where his football career was born.
“I always wanted to be a pro football player from childhood,” he said. “My older brothers played and that’s what I told my mom I was going to do for a living.”

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today formally announced the candidacy of Quarterback Jason Campbell for selection to the 2009 Pro Bowl.
“Go after whatever you think you can achieve in life,” Cambell said in explaining what brought him to this point in his life. “You have to dedicate time; you have to sacrifice things to achieve those goals.”
With Pro Bowl voting just launched, Redskins fans can show their support for Campbell and his other nominated teammates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote as many times as they want.
Campbell, a native of Mississippi, maintains his small-town values, reveals he sacrificed a potential career as a basketball player in order to achieve his sports goals.
“I realized there are not a lot of 6”5’ quarterbacks, but there sure are a lot of 6”5’ point guards,” he pragmatically says. His career encompassing high school, Auburn University and now the Washington Redskins shows he was on the right side of that issue.
Asked what qualities he offers fans in asking their vote, Campbell attacked the issue head on, revealing his favorite past-time is eating, especially fish. And, as befitting any solid citizen seeking national approval, his favorite form of entertainment is watching reruns of the Cosby Show.
Known to his teammates as “Lips,” Campbell played it coy when asked for the origins.
“I don’t know why, I guess because they’re luscious, but let’s not go there,” he shyly explained.

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today added Middle Linebacker London Fletcher to the Redskins Ticket for the 2009 Pro Bowl.
Fletcher brings with him a strong plan for the defense of Redskins Nation, as well as an aggressiveness that should serve him well on the campaign trail. "For me, I can go out for 60 minutes," he says, "physically punish someone and not go to jail."
A man whose favorite moment on gamedays "is that first collision when I hit somebody" will be well-suited for the brawling, contentious nature of the ongoing Pro Bowl voting.
As the middle linebacker, Fletcher is accustomed to leading, and to providing the sort of bold leadership that should help to earn him votes, and he shows a fundamental integrity that commands respect.
"Leadership is being able to first and foremost lead by an example," he says. "You can't say one thing and do another. You have to practice when you preach, so to speak.
Fletcher has never been named to the Pro Bowl, despite the fact that he has the most tackles of any player this millennium, but Redskins fans can change that. Pro Bowl voting is open, and fans can show their support for Fletcher and his other nominated teammates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote as many times as they want.
Fletcher is confident that the citizens of Redskins Nation will come through for him. "We have tremendous fans," he says. "We get a lot of fan support. They love us, especially when we win." He laughs, but there's some truth to what he says – and in this campaign, they also decide who wins.
"For me leadership is being able to first of all do what you say and get others to follow you," Fletcher says. He's done his part; the rest is up to Redskins fans.

ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins today formally announced that special teams standout Khary Campbell is a candidate for selection to the 2009 Pro Bowl.
Campbell wants Redskins fans to know that he likes to level punishing tackles, unlike that other Campbell--Jason, the quarterback--on the Redskins’ roster.
Along with football, Khary Campbell ran track in high school in Toledo, Ohio, so he knows what Jason Campbell feels like when he is trying to scramble away from pass rushers.
Khary Campbell did not want to go that route in his career, given his penchant for hard hits.
“Football is my best sport,” he said. “You have team camaraderie and it’s a bond that’s hard to duplicate anywhere.”
Pro Bowl voting is underway, and Redskins fans can show their support for Campbell and other nominated teammates by voting The Redskins Ticket at www.redskins.com. Fans are encouraged to vote as many as they want.
Don’t forget to vote special teams! Campbell once again leads the Redskins in special teams tackles this season. He has led the Redskins in special teams tackles each of the last three seasons.
What does Campbell want voters to know about him in this election season?
He is a leader by example. He is a blue-collar, lunch-pail type of player who “brings it everyday.” Oh, and his nickname is “Mustache” and his favorite movie is “Friday After Next.”
“Redskins fans show up every week,” he added. “They show up in the offseason and they show up in training camp. They are the best fans in the NFL.”
