Redskins Wide Receiver Josh Doctson Up For Clutch Performer Of The Week

Posted Nov 7, 2017

Second-year wide receiver Josh Doctson came up with perhaps the best catch of his career when the Redskins needed it most, a 38-yard grab that set up the game-winning score over the Seahawks.

Second-year wide receiver Josh Doctson came up with perhaps the best catch of his career when the Redskins needed it most, a 38-yard grab that set up the game-winning score over the Seahawks.

Washington Redskins wide receiver Josh Doctson made the play of the day and perhaps the play of the week on his 38-yard catch that set up the game-winning score in a 17-14 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

Doctson is among those up for Castrol EDGE Clutch Performer of the Week after the impressive play. You can vote for him here.

With the Redskins trailing 14-10 with less than two minutes left in the contest, Doctson beat one-on-one coverage from Seahawks cornerback Shaquill Griffin before extending out to make a diving catch.

After securing possession of the ball, Doctson would slide down to the one-yard line before being touched by safety Bradley McDougald.

“That’s a first-round guy and that’s a first-round catch,” said Redskins cornerback Josh Norman. “It just seems like him and them deep balls, they’re like [a] married couple. It seems that he’s always there for that, and he’s done it in practice, so it’s nothing surprising to me that he came back and the Lord granted him with a second chance, a second opportunity, he saw that thing in the air, that looks like the angels pushed him forward a little bit, that man speeded up. He’s got another gear to him. He got up under that ball and caught it, secured it and he was down at the one.”

One play after Doctson’s highlight reception, running back Rob Kelley punched in the game-winning score.

“Josh, I mean wow. What about that catch, right?” said guard Arie Kouandjio. “And then Rob finished it at the end. I mean, the O-line, the rest of the guys did really well and coach said at the end of it, kind of had a rough day with the offense, but in the end we made it work.”
