Redskins Sign Wide Receiver Brian Quick

Posted Mar 24, 2017

Coming off the best season of his career to date, the Washington Redskins have signed another big target in the form of 6-foot-3 wide receiver Brian Quick.

Coming off the best season of his career to date, the Washington Redskins have signed another big target in the form of 6-foot-3 wide receiver Brian Quick.

The Washington Redskins have added a second wide receiver during free agency, signing Brian Quick on Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Quick, 27, is a veteran of five NFL seasons, all coming with the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams. In 67 career regular season games, the 6-foot-3, 218 pounder has recorded 105 receptions along with 1,499 yards and 10 touchdowns.

During the 2016 season, Quick experienced his best statistical output as he tallied career highs in receptions (41) and receiving yards (564) along with three touchdown receptions. Additionally, Quick had seven receptions of 20-plus yards and three that went for 40 yards or longer.

Quick made his NFL debut on Sept. 9, 2012, against the Detroit Lions. He logged his first career catch in Week 4 that season against the Seattle Seahawks for a 19-yard gain. In a Week 10 24-24 tie with the San Francisco 49ers, Quick hauled in his first NFL touchdown, a 36-yard reception.

In 2013, Quick recorded a career-long 73-yard reception against the Carolina Panthers. He finished the game with two receptions for 97 yards.

The Appalachian State product recorded his first career multi-touchdown game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 5, 2014, catching five passes for 87 yards and two scores. His season was cut short on Oct. 29, placed on Injured Reserve after he suffered a torn rotator cuff against the Kansas City Chiefs three days earlier.

After getting off to a slow start in 2016 with just four receptions for 31 yards in the first two games of the year, Quick had the best five-game stretch of his career over the next month, as he caught 16 passes for 326 yards.

Quick hauled in two touchdown receptions against the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 2, as both of his catches that day ended up with him in the end zone.

In 54 games at Appalachian State, Quick caught 202 passes for 3,418 yards and 31 touchdowns – all of which remain school records. He was selected in the second round (No. 33 overall) in the 2012 NFL Draft.

With Quick’s signing, the Redskins now have eight wide receivers six feet tall or bigger, joining Terrelle Pryor Sr. (6-4), Reggie Diggs (6-4), Maurice Harris (6-3), Josh Doctson (6-2), Kendal Thompson (6-2), Matt Hazel (6-1) and Ryan Grant (6-0).

Quick is also the sixth member of the Redskins; 2017 free agency class, as Washington has also agreed to terms with Pryor Sr., defensive linemen Stacy McGee and Terrell McClain, safety D.J. Swearinger and linebacker Chris Carter.
