Keith Marshall Removed From Game With Left Elbow Sprain

Posted Aug 26, 2016

In the first quarter of Friday evening's game against the Bills, 2016 seventh-round pick Keith Marshall suffered a left elbow sprain.

In the first quarter of Friday evening's game against the Bills, 2016 seventh-round pick Keith Marshall suffered a left elbow sprain.

Redskins rookie running back Keith Marshall was injured on his first carry of Friday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills, awkwardly landing on his left elbow before being removed from the game with was diagnosed as a sprain.

He received X-rays in the Redskins' locker room before returning to Washington's bench.

On a second-down play for the Redskins from the Buffalo 40-yard line, Marshall sped right before being upended by Bills linebacker Brandon Spikes and landing on his elbow.

Marshall walked off the field under his own power holding his left arm. Marshall was a seventh-round pick for the Redskins this season out of Georgia.

The Redskins were already short at the running back position entering Friday’s game. Both of the first two backs on the depth chart are currently banged up – starter Matt Jones and third-down back Chris Thompson. Marshall’s exit leaves just rookie Robert Kelley and second-year man Mack Brown at the running back position for Friday’s game.
