It’s going to be a star-studded event at the seventh annual Washington Football Legends Scholarship Gala on Saturday night.

The charity benefit dinner and auction, held at the Bethesda North Marriott, honors the achievements of greater Washington, D.C., area football players, community leaders, members of the media and Washington Redskins legends.

Legendary wide receiver Art Monk will be in attendance to accept the “Bobby Mitchell Champion of the Gridiron Award,” one of several awards that will be handed out Saturday to football players at the high school, college and professional level.

The honorees for the event were chosen by media members Larry Michael, Voice of the Redskins, Chick Hernandez, Glenn Harris and Rick “Doc” Walker, who will also honor Jim Vance, News4 Anchor.

“The Washington Football Legends Scholarship Gala is a meaningful endeavor that benefits those in need and recognizes outstanding achievement,” said former Redskins Quarterback and Super Bowl XXII MVP Doug Williams. “Washington D.C. is a special place and a community we all love. The support of Marriott International, the Washington Redskins and the NFL has been instrumental in making this night a great success every year.”

The event has awarded nearly $150,000 in grants and scholarships to minority students in the Washington, D.C. area and is hosted annually by the Joyce & Thomas Moorehead Foundation and the Shack Harris & Doug Williams Foundation.
