Nate Sudfeld Was Happy To Play In The Same Game As His Brother

Posted Aug 21, 2016

On Friday night, Redskins quarterback Nate Sudfeld played against his older brother, Zach, who's a tight end for the New York Jets.

The Sudfeld family was torn in their football allegiances heading into Friday night’s game with the Washington Redskins and New York Jets at FedExField.

One the one hand, there was rooting interest in Washington quarterback Nate Sudfeld. On the other hand, there’s just as much love in the family for New York tight end Zach Sudfeld.

The best thing that came out of the evening, other than the Redskins 22-18 win over the Jets, is that Nate and Zach got to face off against each other, and have a good time doing it, as you can see in Nate’s Instagram post from Saturday morning.

Nate spoke with reporters after the game, and was asked which Sudfeld touchdown on the night was better.

“It was me because we got the 'W,' so I’m definitely going to hold these bragging right against him for a while,” Sudfeld said with a smile. “I was really happy to see him get a touchdown. I was really trying to hide my excitement on the sideline. I was standing there waiting for them to say touchdown, 44, Sudfeld. Guys were saying ‘it’s alright you can be happy’ so it was funny. First time ever playing against him.”

Nate talked about the relationship he and his older brother have, and how beneficial it’s been to his growth, both as a man and as a football player.

“Whenever I have a question about anything that I’m going through, he’s walked through it, so it’s been really special to have a guy who I can kind of lean on at times when I’m kind of wondering how to get through something or how to get better in an area,” Sudfeld said. “I’m very fortunate and very grateful to have that resource.”
