Kendal Thompson Receives Another Endorsement From Bryce Harper

Posted Aug 20, 2016

The Nationals slugger keeps close tabs on Kendal Thompson, especially after he made a game-winning catch against the Jets.

A simple glance on Bryce Harper’s Instagram Saturday morning might have been slightly puzzling. Sure, the Nationals slugger has taken to posting about the Redskins from time to time – he donned Kirk Cousins shirts and praised Jordan Reed’s play last year – but a star athlete usually doesn’t pay respects to an undrafted rookie wide receiver.

"I see you big kid! Keep ballin and doing your thing..Prove em all wrong! #CantStop #GameOver," Harper captioned.

A closer look provides more context.

Harper’s photo of Kendal Thompson’s game-winning, one-handed touchdown catch against the Jets Friday night wasn’t just about being a fan. The two of them actually played on the same summer baseball team from 12-14 years old.

They have remained close ever since. In fact, when Thompson was a quarterback playing with Oklahoma, Harper tweeted that the Sooners should put Thompson in as the starter.

Thompson was quick to thank his old teammate on Twitter.

Not a bad champion to have as he jockeys for a roster spot.
