A morning roundup of what the local and national media have to say about the Washington Redskins on Friday, December 6, 2013.

.

--One reporter feels that a quarterback debate in Washington is distracting from the real issues with the Redskins offense. This offseason the Redskins may look to replace members of the offensive line who have given up 19 sacks in the past four games.

--Veteran players, receiver Santana Moss and defensive lineman Barry Cofield voice their support of the Redskins coaching staff. Cofield said, “We definitely want our staff back and hopefully that’s the case.”

--Quarterback Robert Griffin III answers questions about his play and if he should start the next four games. The Redskins are on a four game losing streak and some have questioned why the team doesn't try out Kirk Cousins with the team out of the playoff hunt.

--An injury update on rookie tight end Jordan Reed and the rest of the Redskins team. Reed has missed the past two games with a concussion and according to Reed he is in “same place as last week."

--Defensive lineman Barry Cofield wonders what the Redskins defense will look like next season. There are seven current starters on the defense that are reportedly free agents after the season ends.

--An update on Redskins tight end Niles Paul as he recovers from an illness where he lost about eight pounds from being sick last week.

--Long-time Eagles coach Andy Reid comes back to FedExField as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. Reid and the Chiefs are 3-0 vs. the NFC East but are on a three game losing streak heading into Sunday’s game.

--Despite suffering a sprained ankle vs. the Giants, linebacker London Fletcher looks to play in his 253rd straight game vs. the Chiefs.

--Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan responded to questions about his relationship with quarterback Robert Griffin III. Shanahan said, “Mine and Robert’s relationship is the same its always been.”

--Redskins left tackle Trent Williams practices fully on Thursday and expects to play vs. the Chiefs on Sunday. Williams missed Wednesday’s practice because of a bruised foot.

--How quarterback Kirk Cousins proposed to his girlfriend in Washington D.C. this week.

--A look ahead to what the rest of the Redskins season holds for the Redskins including offseason player moves and the future of head coach Mike Shanahan.

--One writer explains how opponents are focusing on running back Alfred Morris. The Redskins gained over 100 yards for the 11th straight game vs. the Giants but running back Alfred Morris only had two carries in the second half and finished with 26 yards for the game.

--Five questions the Redskins must answer as the face the Chiefs at FedEx Field on Sunday. One question is how will the running game respond from 51 total yards from running backs vs. the Giants?

--A look at the Redskins top-five free agents going into the offseason including Redskins defensive back DeAngelo Hall. Hall took a $6 million pay cut to resign but his level of play this season (3 interceptions, 2 touchdowns) will result in spending more money to resign him.

--Linebacker Brian Orakpo leads the team in sacks with 8.5 and is one of seven defensive starters eligible for free agency after the season but would prefer to stay with Washington.

--A preview of the Redskins-Chiefs game including why quarterback Robert Griffin III has been sacked 19 times in the past four games.

--Why wide receiver Santana Moss has issues with NFL officials this season and why he said, “It’s probably been worse this whole year as a total.”

--One writer looks at the Redskins backup offensive linemen and how they are getting closer to being game ready. Offensive line coach Chris Foerster said, “You’d look at all three and say they’re as ready as they’re gonna be.”
