A morning roundup of what the local and national media have to say about the Washington Redskins on Tuesday, October 29, 2013.

A morning roundup of what the local and national media have to say about the Washington Redskins on Tuesday, October 29, 2013.

--Head coach Mike Shanahan explains why quarterback Robert Griffin III had his season-low 154 yards passing against the Denver Broncos.

--After being fined and suspended for one game, head coach Mike Shanahan thinks that safety Brandon Meriweather has learned from previous mistakes.

--Quarterback Robert Griffin III reassures the media that his knee is “fine.” Griffin sat out most of the fourth quarter due to Broncos 335-pound defensive lineman Terrance Knighton landing on his knee awkwardly

--One reporter’s take on the Redskins play calling and trying to understand the shift from running the ball to passing the ball. Running back Alfred Morris had 93-yards rushing on just 17 carries, Morris had only 8 carries in the second half.

--Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather spoke to the media on Monday on his suspension and his response to Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall’s comments.

--Former Redskins tight end Chris Cooley speaks on former Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth and said Haynesworth was “trying to get released by the team.”

--Today marks the NFL trade deadline and the Redskins are still interested in trading tight end Fred Davis according to sources.

--Former Redskins defensive lineman Dexter Manley apologizes for remarks made about former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman.

--Redskins running back Alfred Morris assures Redskins fans they will not see temper tantrums from him like the one Dez Bryant displayed on Sunday.

--Since entering the league, quarterback Robert Griffin III has had the most fumbles by any player with 21, but the Redskins have only lost six of those 21 fumbles.

--Quarterback Robert Griffin III had a 65.6 completion percentage last year, this year it is at 59 percent and may be the reason why the Redskins seemed out of sync vs. Denver.

--Reasons why quarterback Robert Griffin III had one of the worst performances of his career. Griffin finished the day with a quarterback rating of 45.4, two interceptions and a lost fumble.

--Five notes from the Redskins-Broncos game including running back Alfred Morris’ 66-yards on nine carries in the first half was the most since last years season finale against Dallas (92).

--Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon did not mince words when it came time to talk about the Redskins passing attack. Garcon said, “if you suck at passing, you suck at passing…we’ve just got to figure it out.”

--Thoughts and observations from the 45-21 Redskins loss including improved play from the special teams unit that nullified Denver’s return specialist Trindon Holliday and had a 34-yard punt return their longest of the season.

--Alfred Morris displays his team first attitude by not complaining due to lack of carries. This season Morris has yet to have 20 carries in a game.

--The battle of words continues for Bears receiver Brandon Marshall and Redskins safety Brandon Meriwether. After hearing Meriweather’s response yesterday Marshall said, “you can only pray for someone with those feelings.”

--The prosecution rests in Sean Taylor’s trial and the accused killer’s father testifies on the events that took place on the day of Taylor’s death.

--According to sources Redskins owner Daniel Snyder is scheduled to meet NFL commissioner Roger Goodell this week about the controversy surrounding the Redskins team name.
