--Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett is focusing on eliminating penalties and teaching proper tackling techniques in light of safety Brandon Meriweather’s suspension for illegal hits.

--The Washington Redskins have a decision to make on a starting safety but defensive coordinator Jim Haslett is pleased with the players available to fill the role. In the past three seasons there have been 10 players that have played either free safety or strong safety under coach Haslett.

--After injuries to Redskins players Reed Doughty and David Amerson on special teams plays, head coach Mike Shanahan plans to lobby for player safety for helmet-to-helmet hits on kickoff and punt plays.

--Sunday’s game vs. the Broncos will feature a chess match between quarterback Peyton Manning and linebacker London Fletcher. Both Manning and Fletcher were apart of the rookie class of 1998 which only has five active players remaining in the NFL including Manning and Fletcher according to ESPN.

--As the Redskins defense prepares to play Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, players know that they will have to play one of their best games to win. The Redskins defense is responsible for four touchdowns this season, a trend they would like to continue against Denver.

--As Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan returns to his old stomping grounds in Denver, Shanahan is focused on beating his former team. Shanahan will be honored with a highlight clip that includes his back-to-back super bowl titles in 1997 and 1998.
