Soccer Doubleheader Added To Schedule!

Posted Feb 27, 2014

Come out to FedExField this summer for Spain vs. El Salvador and D.C. United vs. Columbus Crew on June 7; Manchester United vs. Inter Milan on July 29!

FedExField, home of the Washington Redskins, will host four legendary international soccer clubs, as well as hometown favorite D.C. United, for two incredible days of soccer this summer.

First, in a highly anticipated matchup, defending World Cup champions Spain will take on local favorite El Salvador.

Hometown Major League Soccer (MLS) team D.C. United will follow in a regular season match against Columbus Crew in a doubleheader extravaganza set for Saturday, June 7. Match times are still to be determined.

FedExField will also host top European soccer clubs Manchester United and Inter Milan as part of the 2014 Guinness International Champions Cup (GICC) on Tuesday, July 29. Kickoff for the game, which will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1, is set for 7 p.m.

“Once again, FedExField will serve as the No. 1 destination for American soccer fans to see the most prestigious clubs in the world,” Redskins Chief Marketing Officer Mitch Gershman said. “We are honored to host these marquee matchups and proud to bring such high-profile events to the Washington D.C. region and our season ticket holders.”

Spain and El Salvador are brought to FedExField as part of the 2014 Road to Brazil as six countries make final preparations just days prior to heading to Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Tickets for all Road to Brazil matches will go on sale to the general public March 17.

Road to Brazil, organized by Soccer United Marketing, MLS’ commercial arm, will be played across five U.S. cities, including Washington D.C., Houston, Philadelphia, Dallas and New York.

Ten countries will participate in the Road to Brazil series of matches, representing four continents.

Tickets for both matchups are available for purchase through the Redskins Ticket Office by calling 301-276-6050 or visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
