Report: Stevan Ridley To Visit With The Redskins

Posted Apr 7, 2015

Stevan Ridley -- who appeared in 52 regular-season games with the Patriots in four seasons -- is set to visit the Redskins.

Stevan Ridley rushed for more than 2,800 yards and 22 touchdowns in four seasons with the New England Patriots.

Running back Stevan Ridley – a veteran of four seasons with the Patriots and an unrestricted free agent – is set to visit the Redskins today reports ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Ridley was drafted in the third-round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Patriots after a productive college career at LSU.

He would appear in all 16 regular-season games during his rookie season, recording 441 rushing yards and a touchdown on 87 carries.

During the 2012 season – his best statistically to date – Ridley once again appeared in every regular-season game, rushing for 1,263 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Ridley recorded at least one touchdown during a six-game stretch that season as well.

The 5-foot-11, 220 pounder appeared in six games with five starts last season before tearing his ACL and MCL against the Buffalo Bills in Week 6.

In total, Ridley has appeared in 52 regular-season games where he’s recorded 649 carries for 2,817 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Head coach Jay Gruden told reporters two weeks ago at the NFL Annual Meeting in Phoenix that the Redskins were looking to add more running back depth and competition before training camp opens up.

“It’s a very deep running back draft in my opinion, and we’re excited to add another piece at some point,” he said. “Hopefully one of them will be a running back, or a free agent to compete. There are some good free agents that haven’t been signed yet. But, giving Chris [Thompson] an opportunity, Silas [Redd], Alfred [Morris], that’s where it starts. And we’ll add some more later on for competition.”
