Chris Culliver, a South Carolina product with three seasons under his belt with the San Francisco 49ers – is coming off a career-best four-interception year in 2014.
Cornerback Chris Culliver is set to visit with the Redskins this week, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reports.
Culliver, 26, a South Carolina product, is coming off a career-best year with the San Francisco 49ers, in which he picked off four passes to go along with 45 tackles and a forced fumble.
Culliver was a third-round (80th overall) pick of the 49ers in the 2011 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he played all 16 regular-season games, finishing with 35 tackles, seven passes defensed and his first-career interception.
In 2012, Culliver again played in all 16 games, starting six, and turned in a career-best 47 tackles while also picking off two passes and forcing his first fumble. He missed the entire 2013 season with a torn ACL.
Culliver brings with him significant playoff experience. In five playoff games, he has 22 combined tackles and had a key interception of Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan in the 2012 NFC Championship game.
The Redskins are looking to add depth to a cornerback corps that had its ups and downs during the 2014 season, when veteran
