The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed free agent safety Akeem Davis.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
At Memphis, he played in 34 career games with 27 starts and twice was named a team captain. During that time, he recorded 162 career tackles (13 for loss), three interceptions, 2.5 sacks, five forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries.
Davis appears to have no significant professional football experience, although he was listed on the Seattle Seahawks' rookie minicamp roster in 2013.
Davis, 24, attended Laurel (Miss.) H.S., where he started at cornerback as a sophomore and started at quarterback as a junior and senior. He threw for more than 2,600 yards and rushied for 926 yards en route to a 4A state championship as a senior in 2007.
He was born on Dec. 25, 1989.
