The Washington Redskins announced today that they have re-signed unrestricted free agent offensive tackle Tyler Polumbus. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Polumbus returns for his third season with the Redskins and his sixth overall in the NFL.

Last season, he started all 15 regular season games in which he played at right tackle, helping the Redskins capture their first rushing title since 1933 (2,709) and helping the team become the first in NFL history to pass for at least 3,400 yards and rush for 2,700 yards in a single season.

He was a member of an offensive line that helped running back Alfred Morris set a franchise record for rushing yards in a season with 1,613, second-most in the NFL.

He also protected quarterback Robert Griffin III, the franchise’s first Associated Press Rookie of the Year since 1975.

Prior to originally joining the Redskins on Nov. 9, 2011, Polumbus was a member of the Seattle Seahawks, where he appeared in 20 regular season games with seven starts from 2010-11.

He played his first two years with the Denver Broncos, which signed him as an undrafted free agent on April 28, 2008. In 2008, Polumbus played in all 16 games as a rookie.

He was waived by the Broncos on Aug. 24, 2010, before being claimed off waivers by the Detroit Lions two days later and eventually traded to Seattle on Aug. 31.

Polumbus played collegiately at Colorado from 2003-07, where he appeared in 48 games with 28 starts, earning second-team All-Big 12 Conference accolades as a senior.
