A list of notes and stats from the Washington Redskins' 24-14 victory over the Oakland Raiders at the Coliseum, presented by BDO by the Numbers, as compiled by Redskins Public Relations.

"Redskins-Raiders monday Stats Pack" is presented by BDO by the Numbers. People who know, know BDO.

Team Notes:

  • The Washington Redskins earned their first win of the season on Sunday, scoring 24 unanswered points en route to a 24-14 win against the Oakland Raiders in front of an announced crowd of 53,549 people at O.co Coliseum.
  • The Redskins improved to 5-8 all-time against the Raiders, including postseason play. Washington has won three straight games at O.co Coliseum.
  • The victory was Executive Vice President/Head Coach Mike Shanahan’s 176th career win as a head coach, including postseason games.
  • It was Shanahan’s 168th career regular season victory as a head coach.
  • The game represented Shanahan’s 22nd career win against the Raiders, his most against any opponent. Shanahan is now 60-34 against the teams that currently comprise the AFC West, including postseason games.
  • The Redskins evened their road record in 2013 at 1-1 and are now 1-0 against the AFC West this season.

Defense:

  • The Redskins registered seven sacks. The seven sacks were the Redskins’ most in a game since compiling seven sacks at St. Louis in Week 4 in 2011, a span of 31 games.
  • Three different Redskins – nose tackle Barry Cofield and linebackers Ryan Kerrigan and Brian Orakpo – each finished the game with two sacks. The last time the Redskins had three different players register at least two sacks in a single game was on Dec. 19, 1993 vs. Atlanta (Monte Coleman, Al Noga and Sterling Palmer).
  • The Redskins have recorded at least three sacks in three of their four games this season, matching their full-season total of three-sack games from 2012 (three).
  • The Redskins held the Raiders to 298 yards and 14 points, both season-best totals for the Redskins.
  • Linebacker London Fletcher played in his 244th consecutive regular season game, passing Bill Romanowski for sole possession of the most by a defensive player since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger.
  • Fletcher started his 203rd consecutive regular season game, second-most by an NFL linebacker all-time (Derrick Brooks, 208).
  • Rookie cornerback David Amerson registered the first interception of his career in the second quarter, picking off Raiders quarterback Matt Flynn and returning it 45 yards for the first touchdown of his NFL career.
  • Including an interception return for touchdown by cornerback DeAngelo Hall vs. Detroit last week, with Amerson’s score, the Redskins recorded interception returns for touchdowns in consecutive weeks for the first time since Weeks 5-6 of the 2012 season when Ryan Kerrigan and Madieu Williams scored on pick sixes in two straight games.
  • Amerson became the first Redskins rookie since Kerrigan to score on an interception return for touchdown. Kerrigan scored on a nine-yard interception return for touchdown as a rookie vs. the New York Giants on Sept. 11, 2011.
  • The 45-yard interception return for touchdown by Amerson was the longest by a Redskins’ rookie since cornerback Champ Bailey scored on a 59-yard interception return at Arizona on Oct. 17, 1999.
  • Amerson’s touchdown represented the third by the Redskins defense this season. Through four games this season, Washington is one touchdown shy of matching its full-season total for defensive touchdowns from a season ago (four).
  • The touchdown was Amerson’s first at any level since scoring on a 55-yard interception return for touchdown against Boston College as a member of the NC State Wolfpack on Nov. 24, 2012.
  • The Redskins registered seven sacks and scored on an interception return for touchdown in the same game for the fourth time since 1982 and the first time since doing so on Dec. 19, 1993 vs. Atlanta.
  • Orakpo registered a sack in the first quarter and added another in the third quarter. Orakpo now has six career sacks in two games in Oakland.
  • Orakpo registered more than one sack in a game for the eighth time in his career and for the first time since Week 17 of the 2011 season at Philadelphia.
  • Linebacker Darryl Tapp was credited with his first sack as a Redskin after chasing Flynn out of bounds in the second quarter. The sack was the 25th of his career.
  • In the second quarter, Kerrigan recorded his fourth sack of the season and the 20th of his career. He became the 18th player in team history to record 20 sacks with the Redskins since sacks became an official statistic in 1982.
  • Kerrigan added another sack in the fourth quarter and forced the eighth fumble of his career on the play. Kerrigan now has two multi-sack games on the season and four for his career.
  • Kerrigan now has 5.0 sacks on the season, tied for the most in the NFC and tied for the fourth-most in the NFL.
  • Cofield recorded a career-high two sacks and added the third fumble recovery of his career.

Offense:

  • With the 24-point output, the Redskins have scored 20 or more points in eight consecutive regular season games, dating back to last season. This marks the first time the Redskins have scored 20-plus points in eight straight regular season games since Weeks 9-16 of the 1998 season.
  • Quarterback Robert Griffin III completed 18-of-31 passes for 227 yards and one passing touchdown. He also added three rushing attempts for 10 yards.
  • Wide receiver Pierre Garçon led the Redskins with six receptions for 59 yards. Through four games, Garçon has 29 receptions, the most by a Redskin through the team’s first four games in the Super Bowl era.
  • Garçon leads the NFC and ranks tied for fourth in the NFL in receptions entering Sunday’s prime time game.
  • Griffin III connected with Garçon for a five-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. The touchdown pass was the sixth of the season for Griffin III and the 26th of his career. The touchdown reception was Garçon’s 22nd of his career, his second of the season and his sixth as a Redskin.
  • Running back Roy Helu, Jr. scored his first touchdown of the season and third rushing touchdown of his career on a 14-yard run in the fourth quarter. The rushing touchdown was Helu, Jr.’s first since Dec. 4, 2011 vs. the New York Jets.
  • Tight end Niles Paul registered his first catch of the season in the first quarter, gaining 16 yards on a pass from Griffin III.

Special Teams:

  • Punter Sav Rocca punted seven times an average of 40.0 yards per punt with two punts downed inside the 20-yard line. Rocca’s seven punts matched his highest total as a member of the Redskins, set twice previously including most recently on Sept. 23, 2012 vs. Cincinnati.
  • The Redskins scored their first points of the game on a 25-yard field goal by John Potter to culminate an 11-play, 73-yard drive. The scoring drive was Washington’s third scoring drive of 10 plays or more this season.
