The Redskins have signed rookie offensive lineman
The roster move coincided with the Redskins placing guard
In addition, the Redskins replaced Hurt on the practice squad with offensive lineman John Malecki, a first-year player.
Hurt, 6-3 and 320 pounds, spent the first six weeks of the regular season on the Redskins' practice squad.
He was drafted by the Redskins in the seventh round (217th overall) in the 2011 NFL Draft.
Hurt started 17-of-41 games from 2006-10 at the University of Florida and helped the Gators win the 2006 and 2008 BCS National Championships.
He is a native of Milledgeville, Ga.
Malecki, 6-2 and 298 pounds, entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Tennessee Titans in 2010. In addition to the Titans, he has had stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveand Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers each of the last two seasons.
Malecki played college football at Pittsburgh, where he started 27-of-40 games, including the last 26 games at right guard. He played defensive tackle his first two games at Pitt before transitioning to offensive line.
Malecki is a native of Murrysville, Pa.
