Redskins Announce Preseason Schedule

Posted Apr 17, 2012

The NFL has announced its 2012 preseason schedule, with the Redskins opening with two consecutive road contests at Buffalo and Chicago. They close preseason with home games against Indianapolis and Tampa Bay.

The Redskins finalized their 2012 preseason schedule on Tuesday, announcing the dates and times of the four-game slate.

The team faces off against two AFC teams and two NFC teams.

The Redskins open preseason with two consecutive road games, first at Buffalo at Ralph Wilson Stadium. They follow that matchup with a trip to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

The Redskins' preseason home opener is against the Indianapolis Colts at FedExField the following week. They close out preseason the last week of August against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, also at FedExField.

REDSKINS 2012 PRESEASON SCHEDULE
Date Team Time TV
Thurs., Aug. 9 @ Buffalo Bills 7 p.m. ET Comcast SportsNet/NBC4
Sat., Aug. 18 @ Chicago Bears 8 p.m. ET Comcast SportsNet/NBC4
Sat., Aug. 25 Indianapolis Colts 4 p.m. ET Comcast SportsNet/NBC4
Wed., Aug. 29 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7:30 p.m. ET Comcast SportsNet/NBC4

At first glance, the Redskins' preseason contests appear to be an intriguing slate of games, even though none of the four opponents were 2011 playoff teams.

The Redskins play in Buffalo for the first time since Oct. 19, 2003. Last year, the Redskins and Bills faced off in the regular season in Toronto,  with the Bills collecting a 23-0 win.

The Chicago preseason game is the Redskins' first against the Bears since 1976. The last Redskins preseason victory against the Bears came on Sept. 9, 1973, when the Redskins defeated the Bears 17-3.

In the third week of preseason, the Redskins face the Colts for a franchise record-setting 21st time in preseason play. Last year, the Redskins defeated the Colts 16-3 at Lucas Oil Stadium in preseason.

The game features the two teams currently holding the first two picks in the 2012 NFL Draft.

The Redskins will close preseason at home against Tampa Bay for the second consecutive year. Last year, the Redskins defeated the Buccaneers at FedExField 29-24 in Week 4 of preseason on a 41-yard touchdown pass in the game’s final minutes.
