The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed linebacker Mario Addison to their practice squad.

The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed linebacker Mario Addison to their practice squad.

Addison (6-3, 257) originally entered the NFL as a college free agent by the Chicago Bears on July 26, 2011. He was waived by Chicago on Nov. 21, 2011, before being claimed off waivers a day later by the Indianapolis Colts.

He appeared in three games with the Bears and three games with the Colts in 2011, finishing with six tackles (two solo). Addison appeared in the Colts’ first three games of the 2012 season and had two tackles.

Addison was released on Oct. 1, 2012, and added to the Colts’ practice squad the following day.

He was signed off the Colts practice squad by the Redskins on Oct. 9, 2012, and appeared in five games with Washington before being released on Nov. 29, 2012. He is credited by NFL GSIS with three total tackles on special teams and defense.

Addison finished his collegiate career at Troy (2009-10) after spending two years at Northeast Mississippi Community College (2007-08).

He appeared in 25 games with 12 starts at Troy, where he totaled 79 tackles (50 solo), 13 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one pass defensed.

Addison was born Sept. 6, 1987, and attended Tarrant (Ala.) H.S. where he was a two-time all-state selection.
