Playoff Push Earns 'Never Say Never' Nomination

Posted Dec 18, 2012

The breakout performance by QB Kirk Cousins vs. the Cleveland Browns has been nominated for the Week 15 NFL 'Never Say Never' Moment of the Week.

The Washington Redskins' five-game winning streak has not gone unnoticed around the NFL, as the team currently sits in first place after Week 15 for the first time since 1999.

The breakout performance by rookie backup quarterback Kirk Cousins against the Cleveland Browns has been nominated for the Week 15 NFL 'Never Say Never' Moment of the Week.

Counted out following a 3-6 start, the Washington Redskins have surged into a tie for first place in the NFC East following a fifth consecutive win.

This triumph came with quarterback Robert Griffin III inactive and fellow rookie quarterback Kirk Cousins making his first career NFL start.

The Cleveland Browns were riding a three-game winning streak entering Sunday. Cousins overcame an early interception to throw for 329 yards and two touchdowns as the Redskins won, 38-21.

Washington holds the tiebreaker over New York by virtue of the team’s divisional records (3-1 for Washington, 2-3 for New York).

The win is the Redskins’ fifth straight and gives the team its first five-game regular season winning streak since Weeks 13-17 of the 2005 season.

The Redskins are 8-6 this season and are at least two games above .500 after 14 or more games for the first time since being 9-7 after the final week of the 2007 season.

The Redskins’ eight wins on the season are the team’s highest total since 2008.

Fans may vote for one of these three moments on NFL.com/gmc following Monday Night Football and ending on Friday at 3 PM ET to determine the NFL 'Never Say Never' Moment of the Week.

The winner will be announced Friday during NFL Network’s “Around the League” show and then posted on NFL.com.

After the regular season, fans will have a chance to determine the NFL 'Never Say Never' Moment of the Year, from among the 17 weekly winners.

Fans can vote for the winner and enter for a chance to win a trip to Super Bowl XLVII on NFL.com/gmc throughout the month of January.
