Hightower, Kehl Among 53-Man Roster Cuts

With the 53-man roster due to the NFL league office by 9 p.m. on Friday, the Redskins have announce 22 final roster moves to meet the approved number.

The Washington Redskins announced today that they have waived the following players:


Anthony Armstrong WR
Terrence Austin WR
Travon Bellamy DB
Dorson Boyce (Injured) FB
Tom Compton OT
Erik Cook C
Jonathan Crompton QB
Tristan Davis RB
Marlon Favorite NT
Grant Garner C
Donnell Holt LB
Delvin Johnson NT
Brian McNally (Injured) LB
Richard Quinn TE
Willie Smith OT
Brandyn Thompson CB
Markus White LB
Doug Worthington DE

In addition, the Redskins released the following veterans:


Tim Hightower RB
David Jones CB
Bryan Kehl LB
Darrion Scott DL

The team also announced that it has placed exempt DE Kentwan Balmer on the Reserve/Left Squad list.

Safety Tanard Jackson has been suspended indefinitely without pay for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse. His suspension begins immediately, and he is eligible for reinstatement beginning on Aug. 31, 2013.

NFL teams can build a practice squad of eight players beginning at noon ET tomorrow.
