Helu missed last week’s game against Minnesota with knee and toe injuries.
“I feel a lot better,” Helu said on Wednesday. “I’ve had a lot of rest.”
Head coach Mike Shanahan wasn't so sure about Helu's status, though.
Helu was limited in Wednesday's practice.
"We'll just evaluate him as the week goes on," Shanahan said.
Helu has emerged as the Redskins’ feature back in the latter part of the season. He has logged 635 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 147 carries. He has also caught 47 passes – third-most on the team – for 331 yards.
Helu rushed for 100 yards in Weeks 12-14, becoming the first Redskins rookie running back to accomplish that feat in three consecutive weeks.
He suffered his injuries in Week 15 against the New York Giants.

Royster learned he would start the game about an hour before kickoff.
“I didn’t really have time to get nervous,” he said. “I just went out there and gave it my all.”
Heading into the regular season finale against Philadelphia, Helu said it would be “real important” to come away with a win.
“To go into the offseason with a win would be a great feeling going into workouts,” Helu said.
