Griffin III Statement: 'There Is No Conflict'

Posted Aug 13, 2013

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III made the decision to address the media today after reports yesterday suggested he was at odds with the coaching staff. His statement on the matter.

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III addressed the media following today's practice, offering a statement to dispel media reports that he was at odds with the coaching staff over his recovery timeline.

His statement:

"What’s up guys? How’re y’all doing? I normally only talk on Mondays, so I’m sorry to be up here talking to you again. I just needed to address something that was said, something that’s been going along in the media since my press conference yesterday.

"I just want everybody to know that if there’s any questions about a rift between me and coach, or if there’s a conflict, there is no conflict. Coaches coach, I’m a player.

"Coach has a plan and I’m abiding by that plan. I’m doing everything that they ask me to do. I trust those guys. They want me to have a long career and that’s what this part of this plan is about.

"Yesterday, I voiced my opinion about it because I was asked about it. That’s been twisted and turned and tried to put against this team, and that’s not what we want.Like I said, coaches coach.

"Kirk [Cousins], Rex [Grossman] and Pat [White] have done a great job all offseason with the team, getting in and out of the huddle and making plays. It’s an honor for me to be in the quarterback room with those guys.

"So with that being said, I’m excited about tomorrow."

According to Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan's Monday press conference, Robert Griffin III is expected to return to 11-on-11 full-team drills on Wednesday afternoon.
