FedEx Ground Moment: Alfred Morris' 48-Yard Run

Posted Dec 21, 2015

This week's FedEx Ground Moment of the Week takes a closer look at Alfred Morris' 48-yard run in the second quarter of the Redskins' victory over the Bills.

This week's FedEx Ground Moment of the Week takes a closer look at Alfred Morris' 48-yard run in the second quarter of the Redskins' victory over the Bills.

On a day in which Kirk Cousins led the Washington Redskins to five total touchdown scores in their 35-25 victory over the Buffalo Bills, Alfred Morris quietly pieced together a productive effort on the ground.

Morris finished the game with 14 carries for 84 yards (six yards per carry).

It was the second time this season the two-time Pro Bowler recorded a yards-per-carry average north of six yards, and the sixth time in his career he’s done so.

But 48 of those yards came on one run in the second quarter, which happened to be the longest run of his four-year career.

On 2nd and 7 from the four-yard line – just three plays after the defense stopped the Bills at the goal line – Morris raced up the ride side of the field for a 48-yard gain.

“They were just overplaying,” Morris said of the Bills’ defense. “They knew we are a zone-heavy team. It was actually a run to the right and they overplayed it and I was able to find a crease, backside, one-on-one with a safety. That’s when the big runs come, when you can make the second and third-level guys miss. And I was able to do that today and get a big run and get a spark for the team."
