It’s time to celebrate Redskins football, 2011 style.
The Redskins are set to host Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday, Aug. 6 at Redskins Park.
Festivities include a 90-minute Redskins practice, addresses by general manager Bruce Allen and head coach Mike Shanahan, a player and coach autograph session after practice and performances by the Redskins Cheerleaders and the Redskins Marching Band.
Here’s a tentative timeline of the day’s scheduled events:
Parking lots open at 9 a.m. and gates to the Redskins Park grounds open at 9:30 a.m.
At 10:15 a.m., the Redskins Marching Band and the Redskins Cheerleaders perform on the field.
At approximately 11:10 a.m., Allen is scheduled to address fans from the field.
After Allen’s address, Redskins players arrive on the field to begin warm-ups and compete in drills.
At 12 noon, the practice begins. The team typically mixes in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills with special teams work, but there is no tackling.
After practice, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Shanahan is scheduled to briefly address fans from the field.
A 20-minute autograph session begins shortly thereafter, with coaches and players lining up at various spots along the practice fields to sign for fans and interact with them.
Reminder to fans: last year’s Fan Appreciation Day drew a huge crowd, so please arrive early.
