Barnes joins the Redskins after five years at the University of Maryland. He has the reputation as one of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s hardest hitters and he brings good size and speed to the defensive backfield. At Maryland, he started 20 contests in 2007-08 and recorded 85 tackles, including 5.5 for a loss, six interceptions, two forced fumbles and 14 passes defended.
