My name is Tecoya and I am proud to be one of the new Rookies for the 2009-2010 Season. It has been a long time dream of mine to be a professional cheerleader and the fact that I get to be one for the Washington Redskins makes my experience even more amazing and memorable. I have done a photo shoot in Marco Island, FL and performed for our troops at the Annual Fleet Week in NY. Every week, I dance next to 40 other beautiful and talented women, who all share the same love & passion...to be a “First Lady of Football”.
As a Chicago native, I was introduced to a life that could never be replaced...dance. At the age of 3, I started by learning dance in the areas of jazz, modern, and hip-hop. That experience led me to the start of my cheerleading career at the age of 13. I was able to cheer and perform on 3 different All-Star Cheerleading Teams that allowed me to compete against teams across the country.
Hoping to continue on the road of performance, I decided to dance for the band at Howard University as an Ooh La La! Dancer. I was a part of the team for the three years, leaving with the chance to be the captain my last year. During my time at Howard University (2004-2008), I danced for two Hip-Hop teams, helped found my own performance team (R.A.M.P.A.G.E.), and worked as a Hip-Hop Instructor at 2 Dance Academies. I graduated from Howard in May 2008 with a B.S. in Health Sciences and a concentration in Physical Therapy. After graduating from Howard, I decided to continue my education at the National Massage Therapy Institute. In July 2009, I happily completed my program and I am now able to practice as a Massage Therapist.
Outside of dance and cheering on the Redskins, I love to spend time with family and friends. I enjoy bowling, writing poetry, and doing community service. Helping people has always been my purpose for life, and I serve my community through my sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Cheering is my love, and dance is my passion....Can’t wait to perform on the field. Catch me on the Sidelines!
