It is truly an honor, once again to be chosen as a 2009-2010 Washington Redskins Cheerleader! What an incredible experience and journey this has been the last two years and it’s an honor to be returning for my third season. I am 21 years old and starting my senior year at George Mason University as a Tourism and Events Management Major. I love to travel to exotic places, go to the beach, shop and spend lots of time with my family and friends. I love all types of music but country is by far my favorite.
I started cheerleading when I was in the third grade. My Dad was stationed at West Point in New York and I cheered with the Cadet cheerleading team for the first time, where I cheered with the cheerleaders on the field at Michie Stadium at West Point. I was in awe of the cheering crowd, and the performance of the Cadet cheerleaders. It was at this point that I knew I was hooked on cheerleading and that it would be an important part of my life. I cheered in Pop Warner, middle school, junior high, high school and the George Mason University team. Besides my family, cheerleading has been a constant in my life. It has brought me a lot of happiness and has allowed me to focus on other areas important to me.
I never imagined that the last two years would have given me the chance to see exotic locations such as India, Hong Kong, Aruba, Mexico, Germany, Austria and England. Germany was by far my favorite because of all the wonderful food and I had the chance to return to my roots of where I was born! Another highlight as a Redskins Cheerleader these past few years was being able to participate in the 2009 Chinese New Years Parade in Hong Kong; seeing another culture celebrate such a monumental holiday was inspiring.
Although I enjoy traveling a lot there is no place like home, the USA! Yet another one of the highlights of my seasons as a cheerleader has been performing for our armed forces. This is especially dear to me because I grew up in a military family. My father is a wonderful person and I would not be the person I am today without his guidance, love and support. He has always done what is best for his family and raising his children and I think he did a great job. My heart and prayers go out to those serving in the United States military services and their families who support them back home. You are our nation’s heroes. I extend my special thanks to those deployed. God bless you and return home safely! My Mom has also been a great role model. She is an amazing Mom and I would not have achieved what I have without her encouragement, support, and love.
Thank you for all your support over the years on and off the field! Redskins’ fans are truly the best to be around and your continuous support is inspiring. I hope I will see you soon at games, promotional or charity events all over the DC metro area. God bless and have a wonderful year!
