My name is Melanie, but my teammates call me MJ! This is my second year as a Washington Redskins Cheerleader and I’m thrilled to be back! I was born in California, and now reside in Centreville, VA. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Virginia Tech in 2006. Currently, I’m employed as a senior analyst in a major consulting firm.
Since joining the team, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to Aruba, Hong Kong, Marco Island, FL, and to have participated in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, OH. I love traveling, so I’m usually first to sign up for any and all travel opportunities. Besides being whisked off to exotic locations, I have the perk of watching the games from an outstanding position on the field. In fact, I become so engrossed in the games that I forget I’m supposed to entertain the crowd! Another favorite aspect of mine is meeting the AMAZING fans. Some of my favorite fans have been from the military. As a daughter of a retired Marine, I have a devout appreciation for the work that the service members do for our country. I am hoping for a chance to perform for troops overseas, so cross your fingers with me!
Other than working full time and cheering for the Redskins from the sidelines, (and the Hokies from my couch,) I don’t really get to squeeze in much else in my schedule! Ideally I’d spend ALL my free time snuggled up in bed, but occasionally I’ll venture out for dinner and drinks with my family, boyfriend, and friends. I like to snowboard and ice skate in the off season. I love reading myself to sleep, watching sitcoms like How I Met Your Mother and The Office, and playing with my 15 nieces and nephews, whom I love and adore!
