To My Redskins Fans,

My name is Kelly and this is my fifth year as a Washington Redskins Cheerleader and I have the honor of being a captain on the best cheerleading squad in the NFL. I am 31 years young and loving life every day.

I am originally from New Jersey and made my way here to the Washington D.C. area to attend Howard University. Woo Hoo--Go Bisons!

I have had the great opportunity to not only cheer for the NFL, but also the NBA. I was with the Washington Wizards for three years and was also a Captain.

Aside from cheerleading, I work as contractor for the Federal Government. In addition, I teach at two dance studios, sing in a band, and I am the artistic director/dancer in the nonprofit dance company "The Capitol Movement Project."

When I am not cheering and working, I love to relax at home, pop in a good movie, and cook some good food. This is when you see the emotional side of me. I cry my heart out when I watch sad movies. Good food has to be followed by Haagan-Dazs Rum Raisin Ice cream. Yum!

I am also a music fanatic. If you could see my I-tunes library, you all would be amazed.

One thing I forgot to tell you all is that I love quotes. Whenever I hear someone giving a speech or see a sign on the road while I am driving, and it’s a good quote, I automatically write it down.

I am very family oriented. Of course, some of my best days are spent with our fans, but aside from you all, I love spending time with my family. My hero is my grandmother who lives in my heart every day.   I truly cherish and appreciate my loved ones and friends.  I can’t imagine where I would be without my parents, my brothers and my sisters, my grandmothers, and the lasting, loyal, unconditional friendships I have had over the years.

I have had such great experiences since I have been a Redskins Cheerleader. First and foremost, I have the best seats in the house every game. Second, I have traveled extensively over both hemispheres to entertain and boost the morale of our troops. I’ve had the honor of singing the National Anthem and performing with my band at a few games. There is nothing better than being with my band, singing in my uniform, having almost all of my teammates dancing to the music, and best of all having the best fans in the NFL cheering me on.

I have also had the opportunity to become a part of history and cheer at the Hall of Fame game.  Being able to celebrate with two NFL greats (who just happen to be Redskins Alumni)--Art Monk and Darrell Green--was such a great way to start the season out.

Okay, now down to some of the nitty gritty: One thing I love to do is to play cards. (I am pretty darn good at it). Once you put a set of cards in front of me, my face and my whole demeanor changes and I look like one of our huge linebackers about to race out of the tunnel on Game Day. I take no prisoners.

I am a natural comedian and I love to make people laugh.

But if I told you all of the nitty gritty on me, you’d be here all day. So, I am signing off and I look forward to cheering and dancing my heart out for you all this season.

You know I can’t leave you without telling you one of my favorite quotes, which is by Martin Luther King: "In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”

HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!

Love ya much,
