My name is Dawn and this is my first year as a Redskins Cheerleader. I grew up in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Washington, D.C. after completing my B.S. in Business Management, with minors in Spanish and International Studies, from Penn State University.
At the age of two, I started studio dance classes and for fifteen years I took a variety tap, jazz, ballet and acrobatics classes. In seventh grade I started cheering and continued throughout high school. While attending college, I focused on my degree and studied abroad in Seville, Spain and Puebla, Mexico. I am proud to say that I graduated as the Student Marshall for Business Management majors at Penn State. Last year, I was a Redskins Ambassador and was thrilled to be a part of the intensity and enthusiasm that Redskins fans bring to the Washington, D.C. area.
Even though I am a rookie, I have already had so many life changing experiences with this group of intellectual, talented and entertaining women! In May, I was one of the cheerleaders who traveled for several weeks throughout India while performing for the Bangalore Royal Challengers cricket team. Soon after our return, we flew to Aruba for the making of our 2008-2009 Calendar. We have had quite a busy schedule, but the moment when I had a chance to feel the pride of being a part of the Redskins was when we had the honor to perform during the NFL Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio. Ironically, the last time that I was in Fawcett Stadium was during my senior year in high school when our football team was playing for the state title. In the same way that I was excited to be there 8 years ago, the outpouring of support that the Redskins fans showed for this team was indescribable and it was a perfect example of why we have the best fans in the League!
When I am not at FedExField, I like to golf, try new foods, travel, watch any type of comedy and I am beginning to get involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital area. I have also enrolled in applied science courses this fall and anticipate changing careers completely!
I truly feel blessed for all of the opportunities that have come my way and I want to send a special "Thank You" to my Mom and Dad for always supporting me.
Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn’t express my gratitude to all of our troops who fight everyday for this country. I am looking forward to performing in the Redskins Armed Forces Entertainment Tour to Europe this October. You are my personal heroes and inspiration.
